oh that first night is so hard for us Mums (and Dads) Even now I miss my eldest if he goes for a sleepover.. Last year I went to check on the kids before bed and when I went to his bed and it was empty I cried myself to sleep
They enjoy themselves though and its a nice break for us if we take good advantage of it, take nice long bath.. stay up late and then sleep in.. Do something you wouldn't normally do
To be honest Amber, it doesn't get any better (for me anyway, but I am such a sook). I cried when I put L into his new daycare, cried when I pulled him out of his old one, even when the ILs took him for the weekend I had a little tear when I saw him go off in their car. Its just being a mum. We love our babies that much.
I think it is good for him to stay with other people (not to mention you and DH to get some couple time). As long as he is happy that's the main thing.
hun. I know how you feel. The boys have stayed with PIL a few times now, but I cried the first time I was away from DS1 for the night too. It gets easier though - especially when you realise all the things you can get done with no kids around LOL!
Thanks girls.
Dont why I cried I ended up having to go to mums after dineer and stay the night wiht him cause she rang and I coul dhear him crying so it broke my heart!
Now I am sad cause I really wanted a sleep in and the sleep I had was shocking lol! So guess the whole night sleep over is still to come. Dont think I will cry though
Maybe next time will be better and you will get through the whole night.
I remember our first sleep over was completely unplanned as DP and I both got the flu really badly when DD1 was 18 months old and we couldn't even get off the couch to care for her properly. My mum had to drive for an hour and come and take DD1 home with her for a couple of nights so that we could recover. We were so sick that we didn't even have the capacity to miss her which was a blessing I guess - she had a great time with Nana anyway.
