Angry I know its part of being a good mother..

    but I can't stand it.

Cooking with my kids that is.

I just cannot stand it. It raises my blood pressure. We just cooked some biscuits before and it ended with DD1 being banned from the kitchen. All I seem to do is yell at them because they are crapping me off with the crap that they pull in the kitchen.

Some lovely examples from today's experience:

    1. A fight broke out, pushing and shoving and squealing over chairs. There's two of them, two chairs, not difficult to work out kids come on! Its not musical chairs either, just pick a chair and stick to it.

    2. Some drumming was done on the ingredients, right after I had moved them all out of the way they were moved back, in the way of the bowl, and I've only got a small bench. Just leave them where they are.

    3. As soon as I turned my back, DD1 stuck her hands in the bowl that we had just put the sifted flour in - on top of the creamed butter and sugar. Just LEAVE it alone.

    4. Measuring out milk (tablespoon) with my shaky, high blood pressure about to blow hands - and I cop a karate chop on the wrist. *Sigh*

Why can't it just be a pleasurable experience? Why can't they just do as they are told? Why can't they just leave stuff alone when asked to?!

    ARgghhghghghghgh

Yes, yes I should have more patience, I'm a bad mother, blah blah blah...

DD1 dropped a tub of double cream last night, splitting it on two sides and ended up all over the floor, wouldnt have been too bad if it wasnt an integral part of the dish.
then when i was adding salt and pepper to the frying pan the salt grinde exploded and i ended up with about 5 tbs of salt in the chicken, rendering the meal inedable!
i also do not enjoy cooking with my children lol

Cooking is a real trigger for me too. I try to do it when dd is asleep or otherwise occupied (read watching tv)!

who says you can't try again when they're older. I think toddlers and kitchens just don't mix.

Yep, you're a shocking Mother and I can't believe you would get so frustrated with your kids <--- What a freaky looking winky man.
(As I am typing I am telling DS off because he is shoving a plastic golf club in my face and yelling at me to play with him!)

Anyway, seriously though.... we all get frustrated with our kids and as much as I love cooking with them at times, other times they completely do my head in and pull things out, tip things over etc etc. Take a deep breath and lower your blood pressure and when you compose yourself go and cross that activity off the list so you don't have to attempt that one for another 2 years

DS will be 4 in January, and DD1 is 2. He's not TOO bad (well with exception to the karate chop!) on his own he seems to be fine, but today, omg, possessed with insanity or something...

Coz you're trying to do it all at once. If I ever do any baking with my kids, its with one only. I have had all 3 there....once! Never again. Its either when the girls are at school & just DS & I at home, or when they are all in bed. Its really not worth the trouble otherwise.

So, i guess I'm a bad mother too...

    HAHAHHAH thats hilarious!!

I love cooking with DD only when i have the energy and time to clean the huge mess she'll make. She is generally well behaved until i turn my back on her then all the flour the water goes all over the floor and she does it on purpose too!!!

and when we've added enough sugar "more sugar mum, more sugar mum!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I think you deserve an award for cooking with children the closest I got was letting DD eat the icing sugar out the bag...I just told everyone we cooked together to explain all the mess.

That's myhouse too Mel. I refuse to cook with the two of them at the same time. Lily is great when cooking, but put Liam in there with her and BAM, she's a different kid.

And every day I am saying to them 'just listen to me and you won't get screamed at' kids say 'sorry mummy', I tell them 'no not sorry, just LISTEN!!!'

I cant do it with DS1, I tried it once and it was a disaster... I know I have to try again but am waiting for him to grow up a bit...

However my DH can get DS1 involved really well... Dunno how he manages it...

I never ever try. I have zero patience for it. But I do give them the bowl afterwards to fight over
