    itchy bum

DS stuck his hand down the back of his undies tonight and told be 'bit itchy mum'
Is an itchy bum always worms, or can it be other things? He has no other signs of having worms..his bottom was a little red and I put some cream on it, but nothing severe. I haent noticed anything unusual there inthe morning or hen he does number 2s.

    Should I worm him anyway?

There are a couple of other reasons for an itchy bottom including not wiping properly after a poo or even something in the poo itself. If the cream doesn't help then worming might not hurt...

I agree with MG, he might not have wiped properly. It might help him to have those wet wipes?
Or if he uses soap in the bath and doesn't rinse himself off it might become itchy?

My friend the pharmacist says that a really common reason for itchy bottoms is the widespread use of recycled toilet paper (they go into her pharmacy in droves asking for creams, etc). It irritates some botties apparently. I'd try the wipes and also the worming (do everyone in the family and pets at the same time if you can) but if it continues it might be the dunny paper.

Apparently you are supposed to get a torch and have a little look at their wee butts when they are asleep, you might see the little buggers congregating.

Speak to your pharmacist, it may not be ok to do it just in case?

lol thats just too funny. if we even thik about breathing when we walk past his room while he is sleeping, he wakes up. there is no way I'd get within a foot of the cot.
I will have a look first thing when he wakes though, apparently thats the next best time to check.
