    Multivitamins for kids

So does anyone give their kids vitamins?

I was thinking this morning that because Zander isn't eating properly it might be the reason he's had two colds in the last month. This afternoon, I bit the bullet & bought him some multi vitamins. I never thought I'd have to, because my child would be fed properly etc, but he's just sooo fussy with food at the moment. You know, all the stuff you think before you have them

If you gave / give your kids vitamins did you notice a difference in them?

I used them for a while on Kimberley and there was a little difference. But she's never been a great eater anyway.

ETA: i was looking at some more today with Omgea 3 in them. Not sure if i will get some of them.

yep i give my kids chewable pentavite. keeps them going all day and i do notice that they cope with the 3-5 arsenic hour alot better. I also give them an omega 3 daily as well and notice that they are alot calmer, more centered when they are on them

I wouldn't give ds vitamins as i'm a bit doubtful as to how much they actually absorb through the processing process, but i am thinking of giving him "in-liven" in the future if i feel his diet isn't adequate because i've found in-liven excellent for my own health. I'm not 100% sure from what age you can give it though? I would think in-liven is better than vitamins because it is organic and more directly derived from food, less processed etc, so maybe you could consider that sarah? Also might be easy as you can hide the powder among his food.

The main reason I give DD vitamins is because she has a tendency to paleness and possibly iron deficiency, so we give her a multi that has the recommended dose of iron for her age group. Definitely notice an improvement after a week or two of taking them religiously. Her appetite usually picks up (iron deficiency can apparently suppress appetite) so that's the real sign we've turned a corner!

I have given Aidyn Inliven for ages, and it really gives me some peace of mind that he is getting some goodness - seeing as his eating habits are shocking these days! He hasn't had any for a little while now though, will have to buy some next month I think... I also have him on Omega 3, as he can't eat other fish until we find out the specific type he is allergic too (although I am fairly sure its just barramundi, and anything in that class of fish).

Im actually thinking about going down this path too...my DDD #1 is a shocking eater too, will eat fruit, but wont touch a vege. Ive seen a few commercials on tv about vitamins for kids....my mother is a nurse and has always encouraged me to get my DD onto it.
In-liven is a great suggestion....although i find the taste quite 'ick'.....god knows how she would react.

How do you give your kids omega 3..is there something pleasant to give to them, like a chewable thing? I'd love to try this for DS who has concentration issues.

I have used multi's for the first time two weeks ago for my older kids, as DS1 got influenza and had it for 5 weeks and had gone off his food. My kids are big vege, grain and fruit eaters and dont have junk food so I've never been too worried about vitamins, but they don't like meat based protein much, so I'd like to try omega 3 if possible.

Matilda is having the pentivite atm and has had inliven in the past. I use it because she's picky and one day will eat all carbs & the next maybe all veges and the next all protein.... sometimes its a weekly cycle with her & I feel better knowing we are helping her with intake. I have tried to get the omega 3 into her but she won't even take it into her mouth.

yep kids smart ones work here. Friend of mind gives her kids nordic natural which is suppose to be one of the best for kids as it has omega 3,6,and 9. But my kids love the kidsmart ones - so sticking to them
BTW my kids are pretty in tune with their bodies, so i ask them each day if the want their vitamins or not -- and they tell me . They know when their bodies need more than they are getting from what they are eating and compsensate accordingly
