    my 2yoDD only weighs 10kg 3rdpercentile?

ok Dd has always be little, but after she had been sick for a few days we weighed her for some antibiotics and she only weigh 10 kg. that puts her at the very bottom of teh curve, she has always been in the 25th percentile for weight.

    she eats, wellish i guess
breaky is weetbix only one and milk 200ml. sometimes a youghurt and a piece of cheese aswell but some mornings so rushed its only weetbix then school.
at school she has morning tea which is fruit and cheese and crackers she eats well at school
lunch varies every day. but she eats lunch most days.

dinner well depends on her mood if its pasta or rice she will eat as much as 9yo DS. lol
doesnt eat alot of meat but loves fish and prawns and chicken. loves her veg

doesnt eat chocolate or chips or junk food we offer it to her as a treat and she has one bite turns her nose up and asks for banana or youghurt or sultanas.

she grazes all day and has a 200ml bottle of milk beofre bed.

but she isnt putting on weight..

help how can i help her gain weight???

we are seeing our dr on friday for her 2yo check up so will ask him.

She has probably lost a bit of weight if she's been sick - it's really surprising how much they can loose in a short time, but it's mostly fluid so she should gain it back pretty quickly if she is already back to eating normally. If there are no medical indicators of why she is still only that size, then it could just be the way she is meant to be. She does have a pretty good diet considering she's a toddler ROFL! But definitely bring it up with your Dr if you are still concerned by then.

If you believe she is eating reasonably well, and are always offering her food - then I would not stress about it too much. By all means keep an eye on her weight and keep offering her food, but some kids are just smaller.

My two are as different as can be. My DD is a 'boof' - she is huge (tall and well built, but not overweight for her height), she has always been in the top 5%. My DS on the other hand, is 21mths old, 10kg and just below average in height. He is skinny, but what can you do? I cann't force him to eat, and he is happy and healthy. I sometimes worry about his weight and height, but in the end all kids are different.

A friends DS is 3 in September and he only weighs 11kg. He eats well, but he's just got a slim build.
If she's eating well, then I wouldn't worry too much. Every child is different. And the weight chart is just a guide only.

My DD1 had gastro before her 12 month check and when she was weighed was in the 3rd percentile (normally she was 15th-20th) so the MHCN got us back 3 months later to make sure she was putting on weight. At 15 month she was back up to the 10th percentile. When are are so little they can lose quite a lot of weight in a week from being unwell. It would be worth weighing her in a couple of months to see if she has gained. If she hasn't then look at your options. FWIW DD1 was only 11kg at her 2 year check so not much different to yours and she also ate fairly similarly to your DD.

she was weighed at her 18 month check up at 9.7 so in 6 months she has only put on 300 grams really..

she eats some funny foods lol olives and feta are her fav lol she would eat them all day if i let her lol

she is very acrtive, and i keep saying to myself, how can she put on weight when she eats so much healthy good food and runs around non stop lol. maybe if she sat at ate junk all day and only watched tv she would put on weight lol

i would keep an eye on it but i wouldnt worry too much - the averages are just averages and you need people at the 1st percentile and people at the 99th to make the 'average' iykwim. it could just be her natural build. she seems to have a good diet - maybe if she ate alittle more lunch? but it is great she likes healthy things and is active - and if she is otherwise well then what can you do? is she in proportion (ie height and weight?). i am sure it is hard not to worry.. but i dont think you need to be too concerned.

I understand how this can be worrying.

My DD recently had her 18mth check and she is in the 3rd %ile too at only 8.77kg. She will be lucky to reach 10kg by 2yrs I would say. She has always been around the 5th to 10th percentile but has had several colds, the flu and teething recently.

The child health nurse has got me giving her cream and lots of calorie adding foods. I was getting worried a while back and my friend who's dd was very small and had other issues had taken her to a paed. The info she passed onto me was that the paed doesnt worry if they child is 75% of the weight of the corresponding height.

What I mean is if she is in the 25% for height, look at what the 25% weight is and times by 75% on a calculator. I hope that makes sense. It put my mind at ease.

If you are worried get it looked into but I think it is a pretty common worry with toddlers who are busy!

my DDs the same. she eats like a horse and is very active and has only just cracked the 10kg mark (she's 2 in 4 weeks)...

unless you think there is an underlying health problem i'd say she is perfect! have a chat with your GP at the checkup like you mentioned, but i am sure that they wont be too concerned (mine certainly wasnt lol!).

i will have to do her height if she stands still long enough lol and see.
she is still in size 0 for waist lol but needs a size 2 for length in her pants its so funny lol

There could be an underlying issue there then hun. Has she been tested for any food allergies? It could be an absorbtion issue? Maybe get her some probiotics to have as well.
