I think keeping the hair dirty and pulled back into plaits. (nits like clean hair)

Someone might be able to correct me but I think hairspray is a deterent as well. You can also spray soem teatree and lavender into her hair.

Make sure she doesnt use anyone elses hat

You can wash her hair in tea tree shampoo and mix lavander oil with water and spray it on her hair before she goes out. Apparantly both these scents repel nits.

    HTH!

A bit of tea tree oil in a water spray bottle (lice hate it apparently), hair up tightly (lice are less likely to get into hair) and hair spray on it (lice eggs can't stick to it).

I can too recommend the tea tree oil in a spray bottle dilated with water, sprayed on the hair before going to day care.

I worked in LDC for 12 years and not once got lice and I used tea tree oil, when we had lice in the centre.

Dirty hair they don't like and I personally believe they must be a bit like mozzies and go after certain blood types, coz some children are just prone to them poor little things, whilst other children can be exposed to them just as much and never get them!!

Good Luck with staying nit free!!

I have battled lice from Day 1 of Tia starting school this year for a whole term!

Lice love DIRTY and clean hair! They don't care!

Best way for your dd not to get them is hope that the daycare staff treat a lice infestation. As in making sure kids dont share hats etc.
My friend swears by tea tree oil diluted in water sprayed over the hair b4 doing it up. Tight pony tails, plaits.. anything that keeps the hair closer to the body and less likely to become a lice ladder. Once hair is done. Apply generous gel or hairspray.
I use hairspray and its done wonders... i did buy a anti-nit spray but it smells of all different oils etc its quite strong! so i dont use it.
Also check your DD for lice every sunday night, just in case.
