Is anyone else getting NO all the time? It was my first word so i probably deserve it but it's like everything is "no" nowadays.
Even when she means YES! This morning "do you want some toast honey?" *watching me butter the toast, half crying and grasping with her hand towards the breadboard* "No! Nononononono! No!". And then i give her it and she says "Ahankooo" (thankyou). LOL.
I am torn between ignoring it (when i'm not actually offering a choice and she's just commenting) or listening since it seems disrespectful to me to constantly ignore her. I don't want her to feel out of control, but i do want her to realise saying "no" makes no difference at bedtime, nappytime, etc.
Uh huh Seth does EXACTLY the same thing... even the "Ahnkooo" You aren't alone... but Seth hasn't said yes atm so I figure thats why. I just try and here the tone and go with that LOL. Paris grew out of it so I daresay they will too... I hope LOL!
LOL Aidyn is 3.5, and when he is in a cranky mood he still says No when he actually means yes!
I also still get a No protest for a large majority of things that we ask/tell him... "Aidyn its shower time now" = "No!!" "Aidyn its time to go to the toilet" = "No!!"... hopefully he will grow out of this soon, but he was a late starter in this area, and didn't start with the No's until he was over 2yo.
Matilda was "nununununu"around 10 months or so to everything. Even now I'll say "do you want some biscuits?" and she'll shout "NO!!!" but then come running up to get them. I ignore "no" when its not important with her & when it is I explain why & go forth. Sometimes if she says no I will listen to her & not give her a bisuit, but then for the next few days I get some "yes" answers . I found using signs to be very helpful when Matilda was that age just to figure out what was going on.
Jovie has just started shaking her head no when she's full. But she eats twice as much as Matilda ever did and even does now so I listen to her and put it away.

Imran uses ok for yes. I think yes is really hard to say for littlies - the pead we saw about yasin's speech said that S is the sound that gives most problems.
I think that OK sounds so cute that I awlways make him say it - our coversations go like this....
Imran - appa
Me- did you say apple?
Imran - ok appa
Me - so you want an apple?
Imran - ok
Me - do you want me to get your apple now?
Imran - ok
We're still on "ta" for everything. So, going on the apple thing - it's something like him pointing to the fruit and saying "uppoo", and I say "you want an apple?" "ta" (and signs please as well). I can't get him to say please & thank you. I always say please & thankyou, but he says ta. hehe.
We haven't hit yes & no yet. But then he's not great with his speech yet.. only manages one sound out of each word so far.. and there's lots of "buuh" words to interpret! LOL. Funnily enough, he does "sss" pretty well (little bit of a lisp - so cute), so for mess & keys he just says "sss". He's putting all his funny little sounds into his own sentences now tho.. he's skipped the step of learning the words properly first! LOL.
Then the quetions phase "where, why, who, what". We are currently going through this one, the questions are endless. And it is leading into the next phase, which I think lasts for a very long time......
The "WHY" phase.
My advice is enjoy the "no" phase while you can. It gets worse!
She learnt a new word already - yesterday she dropped her toast butter-side-down onto the kitchen floor, sighed and said, very softly, "****". *hangs head in bad mummy same* I spend most of my life trying not to swear, and the few times i do, she IMMEDIATELY picks up on it! XP said to me "I NEVER swear in front of her" - WFT - he swears AT me in front of her, and also if i looked after her for 24 hours a week I'D never swear either. grumble grumble....moan...whinge....
