Not sure what to do... baby monitor alarm going off at night...
HELP!!!
I am not sure what to do... My baby monitor alarm has gone off a number of times in the night for the past two nights. I have a tommee tippee ultimate reassurance monitor, so one sensor pad. After the alarms the first night, I thought it might have been positioned funny, so I double checked it, and during his day naps, no alarms...
When the alarm goes off it beeps maybe once or twice, then he moves so it stops... I didnt even hear the first alarm so I assume it barely beeped at all... although last night the beeps were long enough to wake me the first time, and I didnt sleep for the rest of the night so I heard the rest too...
Last night it went off a couple of times. The first time I ran in to check on DS, his room is next to ours, and found him, sound asleep... In a different position to how I put him to bed, but still positioned over the mat (I think). ... It went off a number of times again in the remainder of the night, and every time I checked, he was fine...
One thing I can think, is that he went into such a deep sleep, and was not right over the monitor that it didnt pick him up, and the alarm made him move enough, and to a lighter sleep state. He has had some panadol for the past two night as he is cutting his second tooth, so maybe that has something to do with it? And I have been using sm33 on his gums... He has been a bit off his food too, but I put that down to the tooth... Cause he is otherwise, pretty happy.
Should I take him to the GP? or my Pead??? Should I be worried (cause I am )??? Thanks
Hmmm... I dunno.... the only time our monitor has gone off was when we were using one pad, and he would move up the bed off it.
Then we started using both the pads. Does yours come with two pads? If it does, maybe try it one night with both of them, and see if it happens again. If it does - then worry
ETA - I just remembered that ours beeps at us if the batteries are low... maybe check the batteries too?

I'd pack away the monitor LOL. But that's just me! plus I don't know if there's a specific reason you still need to use it at 5 months.. so perhaps just ignore me
Is there a reason to use the monitor at 5 months??? Mummy Paranoia!!!!!!! I like lying in bed watching the little light flash on the monitor to know he is ok... DH thinks I am crazy ...
We only have the one pad... so maybe it is just him being just off it and it doesnt pick him up...
I found with the Angelcare monitor that it always went off if she was up against a side or in a corner. A couple of times it went off when she was in the middle and I assume it was because she was in a deep sleep as she moved with the beeping and it stopped. I guess without the monitor I just wouldn't have known she was in a deep sleep, but it's nice to know it helped if she actually did need a little kickstart, so to speak. I was happy to keep checking when it went off and of course, my own personal need for reassurance just gradually went away as she got older until I was comfortable with not using it anymore.
