I don't have a son but apparently that happens to allow it to grow and to stretch the foreskin (if not circumcised) so maybe I would say that its to help it grow. At 2.5 he probably wont be asking for much detail just a simple answer.

Just tell him it's something that a penis does, and it's normal. At this age, he doesn't need to know anymore than that.

The same thing happens to my little man. I tell him somtimes his willy has to practice growing and he seems happy.

Thanks. It caught me off guard lol. Next time I will just go with the 'it happens, it's normal' reply.

My DS1 told me that his doodie (what he calls his penis) grows bigger because he is in jocks. Hard to keep a straight face when he told me that.

I agree with the "it's normal, it happens" statement. Answer questions as they get asked is my motto (at the moment!).

First of all don't panic, or lie. Just be honest and explain it's natural and happens to all boys and not to worry about it. It's what we've told DS and he is happy with that.
