Actually, this terrified me. If DS had gotten up onto his arms and rolled over he'd have fallen out of his moses basket! But he didn't.
If your baby can lift head and roll over, if your baby's head is not covered with blankets or near a pillow then tbh tummy sleeping isn't unsafe. Nothing with babies is safe because they'll find a way to do something stupid, but it's not a huge risk factor any more.
And it's not a silly question (no such thing), I bet it's a huge worry to many and they just haven't posted. At least your mind is at rest now.
I've gone in & found DS on his tummy a couple of times, but I'm not too worried. I know how strong he is.
If he's in our bed I'm careful, but he's fine in the cot.
I've actually put him in our bed on his tummy a few times when he has a cold, coz he sleeps better & he needs to sleep. Only when DH has gone to work or isn't in bed though. That way I can give him heaps of room.
Thank you all for your replies girls, it has eased my mind considerably. She is, for her age, amazingly strong it's quite scary actually LOL considering her cousin who is exactly 3 months older can't do the things that our dd does. Yesterday FIL was telling us of how SIL's baby can now stand up against furniture. Dp laughed and said "ava-jayde was doing that a month ago" LOL guess all babies just do things differently. But the scary thing is, if she's doing things like this now how quickly is she going to begin to crawl and walk lol DP sat up at 5 Months and was walking at 5 1/2 months. At first I couldn't believe it until MIL showed me photos and I was just like :O your joking ...
Once Claire could roll from her back to her stomach, she insisted on sleeping on her stomach... She was able to roll from her stomach to her back when she was 3 months, and the other way from about 5-6 months. I wasnt really concerned though as she had quite good head/neck control so I knew she's be able to move if she needed to.
Our baby has been a compulsive roller- put him down and over he goes everytime. But he never rolls over in his sleep, or during the night. He only rolls around in the cot when he's really awake after a day sleep. We still wrap him too so he gets stuck with his arms down and calls out for me- he is wide awake and can lift his head up so it never worries me.
