    Seperation anxiety - 7 months

DS has always been a good sleeper and at bedtime I just put him in his cot and he would settle himself to sleep. However in the last week he cries for 30-60 mins and won't sleep. When I go in he stops, but starts again as soon as I leave. I'm guessing its seperation anxiety as he's fine during the day.

How long does this last? And apart form going in and putting his dummy back in and patting him is there anything else I can do?

That must be hard on you Sarah. It is probably a phase he is going through at the moment, hopefully it passes soon. Have you tried just staying in the room with him until he starts getting sleepy? You could try sit further and further away from him every night until you can leave. Other than that I can't think of anything else to suggest! I hope you find something that works for you soon.

have you tried putting someting in his cot that smells like you, you don't have to put anything crazy in it could be as simple as you sleeping with a sheet and then putting it on his bed. Being so hot at the moment if you have a large sarong you could wear it for a couple of days and then use it on the bed as a sheet, or a wrap.
You could wear a sheet around the house like a sarong for a day or two, sounds strange I know, but it might make him more comfy.

My DS now 6 months if he won't settle, we have sat on the floor with our hand in the cot and he just strokes and pats our hands until he goes to sleep.

Thanks for that guys. I've noticed if he's really tired he doesn't cry so I'm trying to stretch him out a bit more. Great ideas for me to try though.
