DS and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE singing Tomorrow from Annie the musical. But it’s a bit of a belter so it doesn’t really work as a calming down bedtime lullaby .... but we do like looking forward to a new day.

My DS2 who will be 4 in two weeks
I walk him to bed and then lift him and sing Rock a Bye baby and rock him then drop him into bed (literally) when the cradle comes down we sing and down will come 'benny boy' cradle and all. He loves it, probably be still doing it into his teens Lol!
I can't remember how it all started, think it was around when he was 3 and being difficult to put to bed? I do remember DH was the one to start it and now it just happends every night.
DS1 always loved Twinkle Twinkle little star as a baby and toddler.
DD just loves any kind of music.

We sing 'You are my sunshine' our lyrics are:

You are my sunshine, My only sunshine,
You make me happy when skies are grey
You'll neva know **Insert DD's name** how much I love you
So please dont take my **Insert DD's name* away

She sings it to me too but says 'Mummy'

Sometimes it brings tears to my eyes .. reminds me of when she was a bubba and i used to rock her to sleep singing it. Time flies, and my bubba is growin!

OceanPrincess - I have used Lullaby too, but the bit that makes me teary is the "someday your child may cry but if you sing this lullaby it will never die, that's how you and I must be."

I also sing By the River of Babylon right now, but DS has started to sing along so it will have to change soon. We've gone through A Mouse Lived In A Windmill, Walking on Sunshine, 500 miles and You to me are everything like that. I tend to use hymns that calm me down, especially if he wakes at night! I do it more for me than him.

When ds1 was little the only thing that would ever calm him down was walking around the house holding him singing Yellow Submarine! No idea why!?!?! In the car however, he'd go silent the second I put 'my' music on. GnR, Def Leppard, ACDC etc... Now we get in the car to go to kindy and he'll request Def Leppard mostly!!! I'm a proud mummy!!!

Ohh my girls LOVE PINK... but the problem is DD1 likes dancing to her so doesn't get her to sleep, that said i did used to sing glitter in the air, this part in particular:

Have you ever wished for an endless night?
Lassoed the moon and the stars and pulled that rope tight
Have you ever held your breath and asked yourself
Will it ever get better than tonight? Tonight

I LOVE that song when i went to her concert i was SHATTERED it hadn't been on, was her last 1 and was FANTASTIC i was PG with DD2 i think, maybe thats why they both like it!
