Yes we have snoring and I know of three others who's kids are snoring and all have sleep aponea. THis is because my DD's adenoids are enlarged. Can also be caused by enlarged tonsils (which DD also has).
We got a referral to a Ear, nose, throat specialist from our GP and are going to most prob have adenoids removed. He's given DD a nose spray (steroid) for a month to see if it improves.
Some probs with sleep aponea are that a child never gets into deep sleep as they're constantly waking themselves (even if they don't appear to wake to you), they have restless sleep. Other issues can be speech developement probs, open mouth breathing (my DD has her mouth open wide all the time to breath through) and even, believe it or not, ADD can be an issue with this problem as they can also have hearing probs! My DD doesn't seem to have that, but it is getting worse (the adenoids) so if it went on too long it could become a problem apparently.
So no need to panic, but worth seeing GP about. Another thing they may recommend is a sleep study.
