    Snoring

I have been trying to get out with the girls in the stroller a few days / week. Phoebe always has a nap, and Natalie sometimes does. When Natty sleeps, she SNORES... And I don't mean the cute-baby-heavy-breathing-type snore, I mean the my-overweight-father-is-passed-out-drunk-type snore! It is crazy loud!
Does anyone else's kid do this? Could it be an indication of some kind of health problem? I thought it was hillarious at first, but the anxious mummy in me wonders if I should be concerned...

3yo DD1 came into our bed last night after a bad dream and I noticed that she was snoring too!! She does have a bit of a cold so I thought that could probably be it but I will keep my ears out as I haven't noticed her doing it before.

Yep Darcy snores really loudly and Nate is proving he can keep up too.
Does your DH snore? Mine does and has chronic sleep apnoea. I keep an eye on both kids and plan to have them assess when they are old enough. For the moment it doesn't seem to obther either kid, but Darcy is a candidate for a tonsillectomy real soon, so I'm hoping that helps.

Yes we have snoring and I know of three others who's kids are snoring and all have sleep aponea. THis is because my DD's adenoids are enlarged. Can also be caused by enlarged tonsils (which DD also has).
We got a referral to a Ear, nose, throat specialist from our GP and are going to most prob have adenoids removed. He's given DD a nose spray (steroid) for a month to see if it improves.
Some probs with sleep aponea are that a child never gets into deep sleep as they're constantly waking themselves (even if they don't appear to wake to you), they have restless sleep. Other issues can be speech developement probs, open mouth breathing (my DD has her mouth open wide all the time to breath through) and even, believe it or not, ADD can be an issue with this problem as they can also have hearing probs! My DD doesn't seem to have that, but it is getting worse (the adenoids) so if it went on too long it could become a problem apparently.
So no need to panic, but worth seeing GP about. Another thing they may recommend is a sleep study.

ALso Nai, I was going to say, it was our allergist that noticed the problem and sent us to the ENT. Quite common in allergic kids apparently.. xo

    Thanks girls for your responses.
Hmm. Might mention it to the GP then. I think she sleeps well? I never hear from her overnight these days. And she's only had tonsilitis once.
Kim, both DH and I snore every now and again when we are dead knackered and in a very deep sleep.

My nephew is 9 months old and is apparently a really bad snorer. It was recommended that by his GP that he be assessed in a sleep clinic - he's booked to be assessed in a few weeks. He is generally a very poor sleeper - stirs after every sleep cycle 24hrs a day.
