    Is there a link?

Glenn is left handed & we have concerns about his speech development. While talking with the person who is going to do an assessment on his development I mentioned he is left hand but fobbed off saying it & said "not that that really has anything to do with speech" & she said ah well, no always, it could mean something.
What could it mean? She didn't go into it, after all it was just a phone cal to make an appointment.

    But now I am curious.

My neice (aged 9) and nephew (aged 6) are both left handed. Both have speech problems. However....the 9yo has dyspraxia (sp?) so i dont think there is a link there.... my other neice (aged 12) is right handed and no problems.

The 6yo has alot of problems. Not sure if there is a link at all...but wanted to share that experiance with you.

mum is left handed and never had any problems speech wise...well none she has ever mentioned.

I'm left handed and never had speech problems, nor did any of the lefties I went to school with. When you think about it, only 9% of the population are left handed, and there would be far more than that with speech problems as children. There may be a link, but his speech issues may have a different cause.

It's a brain hemisphere thing, I'm not sure why this sometimes occurs. Don't fret, left handed people often have a wonderful ability to mix the intellectual with the instinctive, art with science - what an interesting person he is likely to turn out to be!!!
