Ditto Christy. My 4yo demands to go to bed at around 7pm each night...whether he has had dinner or not! Thankfully because of that it means we can incorporate "I just need to go check on your brother" when settling our youngest in his cot. If I come back and report to him that his older brother is asleep he will consider settling. I think half the reson my youngest isn't settling during the day is because he doesn't want to miss out on what his older brother is doing.
With my "wondering" I didn't mean to make it sound like co-sleeping was the superior method or anythingIt's just that if we didn't do it then there would be no way known our toddler would re-settle any other way. Our older kids grew out of the need to join us in bed... at about 2yo. Looking forward to that day with my youngest. I think it might happen next summer. My body heat is too appealing in the depths of winter I think! We don't leave the central heating on over night.
