    Toddler not pooing in potty

My daughter is approaching three and refuses to poo in potty or toilet. She has no problems with wees. She will wee in potty all day long. The minnute her nappy is put on at bedtime and she is in bed for the night she will then poo.Not even a minnute later.

Anyone have any useful advice for me.

I'm sorry I have no advice but just wanted to let you know its not abnormal for her to do this. Matilda does it as well, she will hold on her poo and then ask for a nappy just before bedtime and do one in the nappy. It shows amazing control but it is annoying. We have tried talking with her about doing a poo on the toilet & she said "can't do it mummy" so we just decided to let her take her time. We did tell her that her first poo on the toilet would get her a chocolate frog for incentive but nothing yet.

Today she did a fart on the toilet & ran out & said "I did a poo!" but when I went to check I asked her what happened & she jumped on the toilet & farted & said "I did a poo!" so I had to explain farts LOL...

My DD nearly 3 has just gone throu this the first time she did a poo it was in the shower and she started screamimg like she was scared of the poo.
I found the same thing with the nappy as soon as i put one on her she would poop.
She also thought when she fluffed it was a poo.
Just give her time it will all fall into place and when it does it will happen over night.

    Good luck with it

    Christy, that is so funny!

Kylie, my DS was like that, would go fine doing wees in the toilet but would not have a bar of doing a poo and would wait for his night nappy to be on. I think for him it was embarrasing because of the smell, kwim? and that people would *know* that he was doing a poo. He got to the stage where he didn't do one for 4 days and we just plied him with fruit and juice to loosen it up for him and I jsut sat around watching for signs that he was ready to do one and quickly grabbed him and put him on the toilet. He was so backed up and busting to go that he couldn't hold back if he tried LOL. Once he did the first one he was fine after that and it wasn't a problem for him since.

Oh I can so relate to these stories! DD was exactly the same up until she turned 3, and no matter what we tried including prune juice, incentives, etc she refused to do a poo unless in a pull up. SHe would hold on for days at a time and do stinky farts and refuse to admit that she needed to go. One day she accidently did one on the toilet when she went to the toilet with one of her friends and friends mum and she was so proud of herself. After that she slowly came to the realisation that it was ok to do one on the toilet.

Oh we were pulling our hair out at times, but she never once had an accident in her undies or anything. She just did not want to do one on the toilet. I hate to say it but it is simply a matter of time.

Jack's the same. I'm so glad to know that it is a common problem. LOL Christy, Jack did the same thing too!
