Treating cradle cap

My 2 month old has crusty skin in between his eyebrows and on his scalp. I think this is cradle cap. Is there a way I can treat it? I have tried using sorbolene cream in between his eyebrows. Its still taking a long time to improve.

Lots of people advise to use olive oil, baby oil etc but the only thing I have found to work is MooGoo infant scalp care cream (google it)! I used it 3 times and it has completely cleared it up and now Im using it on her ezcema on her face and her ears.

I used jojoba oil then left it for a night then washed it off with normal baby shampoo

I tried baby oil.. didnt work.. plus also be careful you wash it all out as ive heard in one case mum forgot to wash it out and bub's head got burnt through the back window of the car!
But with Jesse i read to use sorbelene. Rub it in, leave for a couple of hours then wash out with shampoo, wash vigerously, then towel dry vigerously, can brush too if you want and repeat those steps. Jesse's was gone in a day doing that.

Hannah still gets cradle cap at 13 months and there is nothing that i have found to get rid of it properly. i used to smother it with alpha keri oil and wash it out then use an eye brow comb to scratch it off....... not a pretty picture! but now that her hair is long enough to be put up in a hair tie i cant get down into the scalp properly... i just leave it now...

I used sweet almond oil - massaged the area at night and then washed off the next day with baby soap. Bye Bye cradle cap!

My mother suggested when I was washing James' hair (which was every day) when I bathed him, use a soft baby hairbrush and use it gently in a circular motion and that lifted the scale quite nicely. I never used baby shampoo - I've always used Johnson & Johnson moisturising baby bath liquid.

Something else for you to try!

i have to say olive oil is the best leave it on for a couple of hours thenbrush it out then wash it out it got rid of jessabells and she had heaps

Hmmm don't know where I heard it (prob on here!) but I used bicarb soda on Dylan and it came off really well!!! Just rubbed it in with water so it was like a paste while he was in the bath...just gently exfoliated it all away - maybe took 2 or 3 nights to get rid of it all...we just made sure we put some cream over his head afterwards...

I swear by sweet almond oil, I got it from a class at my MCHN when Jett was just a bubba.
It normally takes a day if that to clear once I start to use the oil.

How often are you washing hair? If you're not doing it every day, try the methods suggested above for lifting the crust, and then try washing hair daily. This helps keeps the oil secretions that cause cradle cap under control.

Ooh geez Caro - I didn't realise that!! We didn't have any dramas - we quickly put it on and washed it off and only used it for a few days tops...Dylan has very sensitive skin so that was lucky! LOL!

I put the baby wash in his hair and washed it gently, then used the brush very gently prior to rinsing it all out. I preferred that option to having an oily baby, but that's my preference.

PS...James STILL washes his hair every day...I think he's like me, a bit vain about not having nice smelling hair.

hello lovelies,
ds seems to have really flaky skin on his head- it looks kind of like dandruff on his head. can anyone suggest what i can do. thanks

Gracie, after he has his bath, just rub a little sorbolene onto it. Alister has a flaky scalp ATM too, but it looks like his is turing into cradle cap. Alternatively, before his bath, rub a little baby oil onto it and then wash off when he's in the bath.
