Was wondering if anyone has been in Tresillian's Residential Care?
I got referred to the Willoughby centre.
DS has been really unsettled at night, we went to a sleep and settling class run by our council but it's not helped, plus it's making my PND worse.
Just wanted to hear of anyone's experience at a residential care..
I went to Willoughby with both DD's. With number 1 it was the BEST thing to ever happen to me! She was 8 months and up until then had NEVER slept more than 1.5 hours in a row EVER. After 1 night she slept perfectly and at 10 is still a remarkable sleeper (I say remarkable because I am the lightest sleeper on the planet).
Anyway, it was fantastic, they let her cry but I (or the nurse) were welcome to go in whenever I wanted to pat her. It basically taught her that a cot was where she went to sleep and once in she didnt' get up. It wasn't torturous or anything like that, was very easy, especially sharing the wing with three other mothers. Lots of support (by that time I was a total wreck from 8 months no sleep...).
DD2 was fine, more result once I got home. But a fantastic "break" to go there and be looked after with meals cooked for me, and lots of support networks to talk to. But like I said was better with her once at home, but I had all the skills I needed then, so it was still very beneficial. I was allowed go in whenever I wanted to settle her, it's not like they make you stay away and let bub cry for hours. They know what they're doing and I have nothing but praise for them. Enjoy and good luck xo
I haven't been there myself, but a friend of mine has & recommended it to me for Jaz. She had her DD there for the same reasons & said it was the best thing she ever did.
Unfortunately Jaz is too old - as far as I know they only go up to 5.
thanks webbmeg, sounds so good. ive heard some say that bubs sleep well there but once they come home, they are back to square one.
oh and i forgot about meals being cooked and getting all the rest and no housework!
im just looking fwd to having some sleep and 3rd person to help with bub if he gets unsettled at night. dh and i are doing now but it's draining us. he's started to wake up at 2am ish and not settle till 4ish.
thanks so much!
skye - maybe your mchn can suggest something else?
We haven't been doing too bad lately. She's calmed down a bit & only really loses it if she's had a big day.
Its only every few days/weeks now instead of every day at least once a day.
The school holidays should be interesting though.
