    Unhappy Unhappy baby

I have a 5 week old boy who is not a happy camper. The past few days he has been very unsettled and seems to be crying a lot around 9am in the morning through to around 11am and then again at night so around 5pm -10pm. When he cries he is screaming and not a lot settles him, he has to settle himself really. We try and burp him and get some wind out of him but he still cries and cries and while he is doing this he pulls his legs up (not all the time though). His cry sounds like he is in pain... he does eventually settle for a few mins only to start up again.

Another thing is his nappy have become a bit smelly. They haven't been this way up until the past week when he started getting very unsettled and started this crying business

Does anyone have any ideas as to what this may be?? I hate not knowing what is wrong with him and not knowing how to help him

Chelsea had something similar and we were told it was colic. The only thing that worked for us was to:
    1. Give a dummy

    2. Change formulas (sorry not sure if Oscar is FF or BF)

Perhaps get ur GP to check it out....i hope he gets better soon.

He could be having a growth spurt. Is he wanting to feed more?

If he has more smelly nappies, he could have a mild case of gastro. There's a lot of it about at the moment. As long as he is still feeding well, you could try giving him some paracetamol or ibuprofen for pain releief and see if this helps him settle.

What is his sleeping pattern like? Sometimes if a baby is a bit sleep deprived they can have periods of unsettledness like this.
