I'm sorry you and your bub are having such a tough time I haven't used rescue sleep because I've been lucky to have a bub that sleeps well do far, but we have used rescue remedy with him since he was only a few days old - we just dab a drop on his temples and it really helps to settle him when he gets really worked up and upset.
