This afternoon a neighbour came upto me to see how V is going and to show me how concerned she was, as she hadnt seen me around.
She had let me know that she had asked DH where I was and he had told her about V.
Well anyway she starts talking to V and then touching her on the face etc. Now I am not sure about how you ladies/gents feel about this but I am not fussed on the touching even more so now that V has been so sick.
Then she goes on telling me how last week she had her son at the Dr's for being sick and was classified as having swine flu, even tho they arent testing now, so he was given the antibiotics. Now knowing that why on earth would you even think about touching another child especially knowing that that child had been so sick and almost lost her life?
I just dont understand it.
It makes my blood boil, knowing about this. V is still really on the mend, I have had her to the DR's twice this week, today being the most recent. The DR seems to think she is still getting over the broncholitis.
I am already a nervous wreck worrying about her catching something right now, and now I have to worry about this too. Who knows if the neighbour is coming down with anything especially after her son. Why why why, it just makes me sooo very annoyed.
Do you think I am being abit of a worry wart? I just cant go thru that nightmare again.
I just dont understand why people who arent close family friends or family think it is ok to touch another child especially with so many illnesses going around.
holy moley!!!!!!!!!!!!! how idiotic is this woman, im sorry hun but u have every right to be annoyed about this.
i cant believe someone could be so stupid to possibly expose an ultimately still very sick lil girl to a highly contagious flu!!!!!!
big hugs, hope V's improving in leaps and bounds.
I would be so upset too! People just don't think sometimes. After what you have just been through, you have every right to feel freaked out and angry at her.
yes i agree, how stupid can she be???? It would make me so mad if someone did that especially after what you have been thru with V ( i read your other posts, glad she is getting better). You are definately not a worry wort, you have every right to be angry.
Awwww Cheryl you've been thru enough. That's so rude of that woman. I can't stand it when ppl touch DD on the hand, head or face even if they aren't sick!! You never know what germs they are carrying... gross. I get so annoyed why can't people just LOOK at babies instead of touching!!!
By the way, V is looking super cute in that pic. XXXX
I would be so angry also!! However, my issue would be not about her touching DD's face, but even popping over to visit in the first place when you have an unwell child and her with a sick son?? Can you kindly request non-family members not to visit until V gets her strength back?
Yeah that's really not ok. You have every right to feel annoyed, worried, upset.
Following on from what Katie suggest you could try a sign on the door politely letting people know that visitors are not welcome atm (you don't have to say why, just that this isn't a good time to drop in) and ask people to call you instead? I've got a mate who had twins who did this when she needed time out and to know she wasn't going to have to entertain neighbours.
after what you've been through that was the last thing you needed. I'm sure your DD will be ok. Washing her face/hands etc was a good idea.
No you are not being a worry wart, you are being a good mother!!! I would be fuming. It drives me absolutely insane when people go straight for their hands or faces. I actually joked when DS was born that I was going to get a t-shirt made for him saying "Do not touch or kiss me". It's very rude for people to do this and shows no respect for you or your precious little V. Some people just don't realise how precious and fragile babies are, the first 12 months are critical. Big big hugs, I understand completely and once again you are not being a worry wart..... you are being a wonderful protective & caring Mummy.
actually AJC you can get little signs that go on prams etc that say "if you haven't washed your hands then please don't touch me" or something similar. I'm pretty sure i seen them at the same place where you can get gro bags.
OMG THAT *****S me!!! Not only then, but why do people HAVE to touch their hands and faces at all??? They don't walk up to adults and do that!! So annoying! I told a lady to stop touching Elijah the other day and turned him away from her a bit...lol.
Thanks everyone for feeling the same way as I do. However, she came upto me when I was getting V out of the car, so didnt actually come to the front door. She wouldnt have had the chance to touch V if she was inside the house. I like the sound of those signs too. hugs
