Unhappy Vomiting if eating too soon after waking!

I was rushing to get to an appointment last week, so when DS - 15 months - awoke from his 12 hour sleep I sat him in his highchair and fed him breakfast pretty much straight away (after changing a dirty nappy first).

Usually, he would wake-up and play for a bit before having breakfast.

Well, DS's breakfast didn't stay down for very long. Not only was a rushing to get somewhere - I had the added bonus of having to clean up freshly chucked up breakfast too - it was in the highchair tray, down his clothes, in the high chair seat!!!

This is not the first time this has happened. First time, I thought - okay a bit strange. Second time - I think, may be a coincidence. Third time - I am thinking maybe there is a pattern to this.

Is this normal? Has DS got a particularly sensitive stomach that needs to wake-up a bit before he eats? Does the stomach sleep longer than the rest of the body?

    THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!

PS. Next time, I think I will have to wake him up and let him play a bit before breakfast if I need to I go somewhere. I hate doing this. Usually, I just let him sleep until he wakes by himself!

How old is he? What did he have? Maybe try something a little smaller and give him some morning tea?

Thanks for your reply Tanya. DS is 15 months. For breakfast he usually has cereal and his milk.
DH never used to eat breakfast as a child - he said it couldn't stomach anything early in the morning.
I am wondering if DS's stomach is similarly sensitive.

I would try a smaller meal & see how it goes. I guess after a big sleep it's understandable that their little tummies need a bit of time before a big meal. Emma usually has a play before brekkie too, but she's never been sick if she's eaten sooner (mind you she's more likely to refuse her brekkie if I give it to her too soon). You could give him his brekkie in 2 seperate serves when you have to go out early.

    Thanks for your advice Linda.
Maybe next time it will be a little bit of cereal before we go and his milk while we are out!
