She could be crying because she is overtired seeing as she doesn't sleep much. Maybe as suggested above try a bouncer. I would sit and rock my DD for quite awhile to get her to sleep. She is very stubborn in the day, we still have trouble with her day sleeps.
Maybe put her in the pram if she settles in that and push it back and forth to get her to sleep?
