Mostly she slept in her own room from only a couple of weeks old - I wanted the basinett next to me but I wasn't getting ANY sleep - I kept checking every noise to see if it was a problem, or if there wasn't any noise I'd check to see if she was breathing, so for my sanity we moved her. (PS- I still hear EVERYTHING that's important even across the hall - mothers ears are tuned in) But she's still slept in our room on and off I'd say 15% of the time for various reasons- and yes, we get a lot more sleep when she's in her room. She knows we're there if she's with us so when she wakes between sleep cycles (to start with I can hear her stirring which wakes me anyway) but also she will wake up and whinge for me, whereas she just goes back to sleep and sleeps from 7 - 7 if she's in her own room. I guess different things work for different people. It IS annoying having to walk to her room if she does wake though.
