    When do we take our first trip to the Dentist? Adelaide recommendations too.

    Hi

    I was just looking at another dental thread and it reminded me about something that I am quite confused about and keep meaning to ask.

    My DD is 9 months old now with her 7th tooth coming through, I was wondering when her first Dental appointment should be?

    Also;

    I don't have any health cover but I do have a health care card so who would I go to, there is a zillion dentists in the yellow pages, I don't have a particular one I go to as we are quite bad by only going when we have to

    And last but not least;

    Do you have any idea what it would cost?

    Thanks
    Chantal

    Thankyou so much for that! Very much appeciated.

    The Australian Dental Association recommends that your child’s first oral health visit take place at 12
    months of age, or shortly after the eruption of the first baby teeth
    With the above statement I'm wondering should I do it now or wait two months until she has a couple more through?

    At the moment its two middle top teeth with 1 at the side and two middle bottom teeth with 1 on each side. Doesnt really seem to be a lot for the dentist to look at if you know what I mean.

    We never took Kameron till he was 4 got information for school dentist with his kindy pack, so we take him to the SA dental service on Hollywood Blvd, in Salisbury downs. It was only a quick 15 min check up to basically count teeth, said his teeth were perfect and we don't have to go again for 18mths. The first visit is free but then they do charge after that.

    Love

    Oh, I see what you mean

    So the best thing I can do is ask around to see if there is a dentist who is patient with babies and toddlers and won't cause any phobias. Thanks

    Thanks Astrolady, saw your post after I had done mine. Thats a quick check they did! it makes me wonder if its more worthwhile waiting until some of the back teeth are coming through. I'll ask around my Mums group to see what they are thinking.
