I have the same with Liebling. Now age six and a half. However, it is no longer every night. Just half of them.
What treatments do you have for the eczema? We use chlorphenamine maleate syrup at night (care, as children cannot operate heavy machinary after taking this) and have to change moisturiser every 6-8 months as it stops working for some reason. We have done a LOT of different moisturisers, but we can go back after a long break.
Nail clipping is also a big event (he now can do his own thankfully), as are baths with suitable emolients - the pair of us with 5x the normal dosage for up to an hour when necessary (btw, it stinks and you and your DD will too after that).
The really bad nights, we used to have a DVD on in the bedroom. DH would sleep in Liebling's room and I'd be with Liebs in bed and when he woke he had a distraction so that helped. Not loads, but enough that I could function the next day without needing to eat braynes. Braynes. And again, I say braynes. *Lurch, shuffle, sit and cry quietly in the corner.*
Oh yes, I almost forgot - we have had a steroid creams prescribed. They work well, but I don't like having to use them. But, yanoo, I don't like craving brains either.
