Would YOU take your baby?

I am a MASSIVE Harry Potter fan and am wetting myself in anticipation for the next installment.

There are a few cinemas that do Mums and Bubs sessions in Brisbane and a few mums I know are going to be attending one of those.

I'd love to but I'm a bit worried that DD might get a bit scared - the films are pretty dark now. I don't want to expose her to anything scary and give her nightmares or something.

Am I over-thinking this? Am I being a twit even thinking that she'll take anything from the film?
Has anyone ever been to a mums and bubs cinema session? I hear that the lights are on and the film isn't so loud - is that right?

Thanks guys, I feel a bit of a tool asking but I want to make sure that it's ok.

I would, my twins were closer to 18 months before I stopped letting them watch Harry Potter with me, and now they are almost 3 I have started again (with the earlier movies). As long as it's a mums and bubs session it'll be fine

me neither, my hubby has decided to come with me but he hasn't watched the other movies yet so I am making him watch them one by one so he doesn't ask me a million questions at the cinema! I think we will wait until it's been out a week or two though to give him a chance to catch up properly on the storylines

I've been to a couple of those sessions and they were great! You're right - was a little softer (not much) and they keep the lights dimmed so you can see what you're doing.
Moo never paid any attention to the screen when we went, but I think the last time we went he was younger than your bub, maybe 4 months old. I'd give it a go, take plenty of toys etc for her. No one will care if she cries or carries on and you can walk around with her if you need to. I've seen parents standing in the doorway rocking their bubs or pushing them in prams, no one notices!

As for the worry about giving her nightmares, gauge her reaction on the day. If she seems a bit freaked out then you can always just leave.

I wouldn't, but it's because of the noise. This baby already freaks out and becomes really unsettled on the inside when I see a loud and scary movie. But maybe that's inherited from me, cos I consider Harry Potter to be scary! Great big sook, I am

Yeah i would, i have been to the mums and bubs sessions and they do have the sound down its not as loud as a normal session

I would! The mums and bubs sessions are great!! I can't wait to see it! I'm taking the day off work with Dh so we can see it gold class while DD is at daycare...whoot!!

YAY, I can't waittttttt!

I wonder (because the film is in 2 parts) where they will end it? And I'm so glad that we only have to wait till next July to see the second part.

I saw one of the previous Harry Potter at a mums and bubs and DD was fine, slept or fed for most of it and watched some other bits, I think they pick up on your reactions more than anything else, so if you jump they jump rather than them jumping at something in the film IYKWIM, so if movie unsettles/freaks you will have same effect on bub.

Yep Sue you'll be fine - dh and I took our DD when she was about 5mths to the last HP and she was fine!

She loved the big screen. DH was pretty funny - he was worried about being a dad at a "mums n bubs" session but he got over that!

I'm thinking about it too with my DS!

Robert has been a regular movie-goer with me! He's seen (ha! slept through more like) Robin Hood, Knight & Day, Inception, Eclipse, Clash of the Titans.....

I missed SATC because DD was too little for me to leave for longer than an hour - and I didn't know that cinemas did mums and baby sessions then!

Ps, I STILL haven't seen SATC. Keep meaning to buy it on DVD!

Nothing is going to stop me taking Cookie with me to Part Two (and obviously nothing's stopping me taking him/her to Pt One ) so s/he better get used to movies quicksmart

Hell yeah I would! I took my son to mums and bubs for SATC and he was fixated, feeding or sleeping for the entire time. I did cover his eyes for a raunchy sex scene though
