My DD had her 12 month needles on Monday. Tuesday, Wednesday and today she has been so very irritable, cranky, throwing tantrums and crying alot. She had a measles shot and meningicoccol (sp?) shot. The other ones she had before but these two were the only new ones.
I am worried and have given her nurofen since Monday.
Has this happened to anyone else's little one and if so, how long did it take to wear off?
It is quite common for children to experience the symptoms your daughter has however they should all be gone within a week. Keep an eye on her and f your concrened at all a trip to the GP might help ease your worries.
Thanks Westy. Just a different girl really. I hope it is nothing serious. Has anyone else out there experienced the same thing? Please ease my mind. I'm a worry wart.
Hi QB, we haven't had our 12 months shots yet (DS hasn't been well ) but I have heard that lots of babies react this way to them. Not sure why the 12 months vac in particular, but I know a lot of our baby buddies said the same thing. If you're concerned take her back to the GP.
Thanks Willow, might take her back if she is not better in a couple of days. She had measles and meningicoccol (sp?) this time. Hasn't had them before. Chicken pox is at 18 months but only one injection in the arm. This time she had one in each leg and the arm.
Westy, she is ok, just grumpy and irritable, cranky and not the same little girl!
My DS is only 9 months so I can't offer any personal advice. If your worried you can call the Immunise Australia Info Line on 1800 671 811 and they should be able to help you out in terms of side effects and how long they last. Hope your little one is better soon.
