Brendan was about 6 months old when he had his first shower with dad, and it was purely because I had been disorganised... hehe. Brendan was bathed during the late afternoon as he went to bed at 6pm.
We probably would have done it earlier, but we were petrified of hurting him or dropping him! Silly now in hindsight!
Jacob has had a few baths with us now and it is soooooooooooooo nice.
1st would ahve been at about 2 weeks
He hasnt liked water to much but is now getting better.
Our first child showered with us at about 3 months perhaps, but our second started about 2 weeks! It's so much easier! Especially if you have someone to help you.
I'll hop in the shower, and dh will undress bub and bring him to me. It's a careful handover, but then I have him upright looking over my shoulder (get my hair out of the way or he pulls it), and then let the water fall on his back. I'll wash him in that position. He likes it quite warm too, so I'm still comfy. I just don't use any soap really on him, don't want to make him slippery!
And then when I'm done, I just hand him back to dh to be dried and dressed! It's so easy, and he really likes it. I just chat to him when the water first hits his back, or put my hand on his back and then move it - initally the water can startle him.
Something else I do - do you have one of those shower attachments you put on your bath nozzle? I put a bathmat/handtowel on the bath floor, get the warm water running, and put bub on the mat in the bath. I put a facewasher on his chest and wet it (to help keep him warm), and wash him that way, just running the water over his body. He tries to hit the water and hold it, it's pretty cute. :P
But there's no danger of him slipping out of my hand that way. I wash him that way when I'm on my own.
Right from the start with all our kids they have showered with Daddy or bathed with me.. I am to nervous to hold them in the shower when they were really small...
Then it was the baby bath or bathing in the big tub by themselves.. or the kitchen sink on occasion
all my dd's have had showers with us. My dd#3 had her first shower at about 2 weeks of age though she didn't have her first bath till 10 days old. She loves her showers, she does not have baths with us as her change table and bath is over our big bath.
I couldn't bath DD (poorly back) and DP wanted to have her shower with him so we did that from a few days old. She still has showers with dad (she's just turned 1) and occasionally we put her in the bath with me.
My girls were more once they were sitting confidently. We'd put them in the bottom & they would do their own thing.
Jesse was 2 weeks when he had his first shower/bath with DH. Now he'll go in there with one of us at least once a week.
I have a quick 5 minutes to wash myself with soap & wash my hair in the shower, then I'll make sure all the soap is gone & put the plug in.
I have Jesse in the rocker/pram at the side of the bath just in his nappy with towel already under him, then I just have to take the nappy off to bring him in. When I'm finished I put him back in the rocker/pram & wrap the towel around him.
We let the bath fill up with the shower & play with the bath & shower water then we'll often turn the shower off & lay back & relax for a bit.
Lately I've been putting Jesse on his tummy in the shower instead of giving him a bath. He loves it.
Ds showered with his daddy from about 1 week old, its a lovley bonding thing for them since he was BF and daddy never got to feed him. He still loves getting into the shower with daddy.
