We have been putting DDs 12 month immunisations off for quite some time now only to receive a call last week from the nurse at the Drs surgery 'reminding' us to have DD done.
What Im really struggling with, is the 3 needles. Too many in any given day IMO. So how can I break it up and which ones are more 'important' or less likely to cause 'problems'?
I have read that she would be given MMR, Influenzae type B, Meningococcal C and Pneumococcal if she is classed as an 'at risk child'.....who determines this and what are the guidelines?? I have tried to read different websites and they are confusing me even further *sighs* Im not usually so silly but as you can see Im just too confused

You can put them all off if you want, you are under no obligation to have them done just because the nurse said so
When I took DD for her 12 month ones, I didn't get the MMR done, so she only had two needles. I think 3 at once is a bit much, and the MMR is usually the one they react to. I still haven't gone to get it, so will be interesting to see what the MCHN says when I take her for 18 month check up, as she won't be getting the 18 month chicken pox needle either.

I had my LO done days before christmas I was a bit woried as she had a reaction to the 6 month one and she is tiny but I know if she gets sick she is realy sick so I didnt want to risk. Amazingly she dosnt even have site nodules and no reaction at all I know its differant for everone and I was really worried about the amount given a once as well but she copped realy well
At risk usually means indigenous or from SE Asian communities, IIRC.
You can split them up - just request one now, and make an appointment for a month's time for the next one. There's no rule that says they all have to be given on the same day, it's just a guideline for convenience.
Well hate to say it, but as of this year,( 2010) all preschoolers in every state need to provide an up to date vaccination schedule for their child at enrolment... I Guess Lulu , that your children were already attending before then....
it's not discriminating really, every child has a right to be safe from diseases which can be prevented

Schools might ask for a child's vax schedule but a CO form can be shown in it's place. A school cannot refuse enrollment because a child isn't vaxed. If they could, many children would be sitting at home not getting an education. M2R, I'd suggest reading the material before making inferences about it and then broadcasting it as fact.
FTA - we came up with our own schedule, and there's a thread I posted about it a few months ago. I can't link to it but feel free to PM me if you're interested. We are spreading out the vax and delaying some. We also chose to refuse others. A conscientious decision is, IMO, vital, and an individual one that suits your family.
