Yeah I asked for it to be taken off. It doesn't need to stay there till the cord drops off.
Really...so could i take it off then? Do I open it up?
cut the loop end. So not the end that clicks together, I think you need a special gadget to open them again once they are closed. All of mine have just had the "hinge" end cut to open them.
Thanks for that, I have just put her down for the night, so I will take another look in the morning. It shouldn't effect the healing process should it?
DD's was taken off on day 4 in hossie. The cord sttump just drops off after that. Cut the loop on the clamp with a pair of sidecutters (like pliers but with blades instead) or something
All goodI took her to see our Midwives at our hospital, and they cut if off for me, and gave me a stack of alcohol swaps to keep it clean, as it had a bit of meconium stuck under the clamp bit, but is not infected. It looks 100% better and much more comfortable
Thanks for all the advice.
Wow, you got it easy, my DD1's was on for 3 and a half weeks! She had the clamp removed from her almost immediately as she had a drip through her belly button.
DD2 had the clamp stay on until it all fell off together, it didn't take as long as her sisters though.
FM - Glad to hear that you got the clamp removed and it is doing well![]()
