Don't even do the mobile phone plan. Just get a pre-paid. My friends make fun of my Nokia pre-paid phone until I told them that I'd spent $12 in three months on calls compared to their $300 on a plan. Then they wonder how it is that I'm going to be mortgage free in a few months ... erm, maybe because I don't spend money on stuff I don't need. Not rocket science. You HAVE to take charge of your finances or they will take charge of you.
