Lump Sum payment for FTB- C'Link

So DH went into our local C'Link office to query how we go about lodging a claim for the FTB in a lump sum payment for previous financial year (2009). He was advised that it has to be done online and was given details etc to register, which we've done.

Now, when i logged in to process the claim, its only coming up with two questions (to see our eligibility) and both ask if we had a dependant child as of July 1 2008 - our DD wasn't born until Jan 2009 so obviously when i clicked through it said 'you are not eligible to claim FTB in lump sum payment" or something to that effect. - Anyway, my question is, how can we lodge the claim if the information on the website is not up-to-date? - the lady at our local C'Link office said it can ONLY be done online - so we are confused as to how we lodge it. does the C'link website update to end of financial year 2009 at some stage this year??

    Any help greatly appreciated

    TIA

You FTB A&B is reconciled against your tax when you have it done. So if that has been done, the ATO automatically sends it on to c'link, so you don't actually apply for it, you just get it. And if your DD was born part way through the tax year is it payed on a pro-rata basis.

For the lump sum you do need to fill in the form online. I got stumped with that question as well - I think it says have you had one in your case "since" 2008, which I took to mean that there was one at some stage after that date. If you click yes then it will take you through to the form and you can fill it all out.

I think the wording is just a bit confusing - there are quite a few aspects that are a little confusing.

Thats what i thought, but the tax agent said as it is the first time we are claiming it needs to be the lump sum payment application which is done online - it all hurts my head a bit too much - DD was born 21 Jan 2009. I worked up until December 2008 and we were told by the tax agent for our 2009 tax that we weren't eligible for the FTB as our combined income was over the threshold and to hold out until tax time this year *sigh*

the wording is "since" - you still do the same process hun - the online claim won't process for the full financial year when it's done, just from the date your bub was born. before that it was read on the internal files (so from july 1 to jan 20 it will read as "no dependents eligible". but the claim process is exactly the same - just tick yes and go through the questions
