woolworths now accepting visa debit again

I know there was a thread ages ago (a few years even), about woolworths and associates not allowing you to use the credit option with a visa debit card...

They are now allowing you to use the credit option. As of last week apparently (according to some articles when I googled, but don't know how to link on my ph). I know it annoyed me at times with one if our accounts, so just in case anyone else is interested..

I know that. But some banks charged fees for that.. And I remember a lot of people on here were frustrated, so letting them know the change. I found out when using the account that I rarely used cause of fees. It wasn't as well promoted as when the took it away.

You could use saving yes... as long as you weren't a douche like me & did all your shopping, used up your cash (savings) limit for the day, then tried to do your food shopping at woolworths. With no credit option I was screwed. 3 hours from home & the cash limit is for the card, not just your savings account (couldn't transfer the money into my other account I have under cheque).

Mine is Mastercard debit though. Not Visa.

I heard a little while ago that because so many customers complained and stopped shopping at woolworths that they were going to allow the credit option again. I work at Dan Murphys and would cop so much abuse, or people who just didn't understand they couldn't select credit which would send me bonkers!! they would keep pressing credit and say over and over "but i want to pay on credit"

Now all they need to do is bring in the tap and go option and it'll be sweet.

Huh. Unfortunately for them, in the two years since they did it, I've become completely accustomed to not shopping there. (between that and their mass poke ownership) So I'm gone for good.

Just on another note, I *hate* pay wave and the shop assistants etc that think you should have to use it. Particularly the asshats at drive thru maccas etc who take your card and then assume its ok. After a few nasty letters they now hand me the eft machine!

I don't get it when people complain about paypass/paywave. It's brilliantly convenient, there's no risk, as the banks will refund disputed paypass transactions and I've not come across a merchant who has the facility who has a minimum transaction amount. Although I try to avoid woolies/Coles im happy I can paypass at woolies again!

Me either With my bank any paywave transactions i have take up to 3 days to clear so in the event of a stolen card they can be easily fixed.

Recovering fraudulently used or stolen funds from your bank is not that simple, despite it being obvious they are stolen. It can still take weeks for the bank to refund the money to you, and many people don't have money to waste like that.

i dislike it because it takes three dayds to clear. i hate spending funds on credit because it means ive allocated money thats njot actually gone straight away. when you have times where you live paycheck to paycheck its not has brilliantly convenient for others.

the fact that taxi drivers and sales assistants or cashiers etc think its ok to paypass without even asking is also NOT OK with me. they say its the same thing but its not.
its still my money but i prefer my transaction to come through straight away.

I don't have a pay wave card but notice that with big w and a few other shops forgot which ones, you spend under 30 and you don't need a pin or signature!

The transaction just goes through and this isn't with a pay wave swiper thing

I was quite shocked when that happened but then got use to it, although do question how secure it is.
