Hey facebook, what have you done?

I logged onto FB today to be told Kelly had posted something to my wall. When I tried to access it the post was "no longer available" and neither was the Belly Belly Kelly profile. Facebook, what has happened? Has Kelly been moderated?

I noticed the same thing - that I couldn't find Kelly's FB profile - I went to comment on something from yesterday and thought at first that I had been de-friended and then went to search for her and nothing came up...

I think maybe FB has removed her profile...

Re: Hey facebook, what have you done?

Yup someone has reported it. For effs sake! It depends on whether the profile was completely private or not as to whether it was someone on her list, but I assume it was completely private. I guess some **** could have added her just for that sole purpose Kel had just posted a link to a FB quiz, don't know if anyone saw it, "how dirty is your mind?" with a picture of a sideways eye, looked like a vagina unless you looked very closely. Down the side were quizzes such as "do you like pussy", "what sexual position are you" etc. Really disgusting stuff, accompanied with pictures of women in bikinis spread eagle, tits (when they are actually used in an obscene way, fb is apparently ok with it )

GOD I am sick of the double standards!!!

Yup I posted it saying, look Facebook thinks this is okay, but not breastfeeding women!!!! And what I was pointing to was a quiz down the right side which had a couple about to have intercourse (you could see genitals!)

What the hell??! Ohhh, but right, I forgot, we are supposed to be socially conditioned to ACCEPT women being objectified for some dudes gratification, but god forbid society gets used to seeing a mum feed her child in the way nature intended...cos that's just sick... :brickwall:

i cant belive they have taken her page down! that is so wrong, we see 'sex' in advertising, on tv, in the papers, everywhere we look. the clothes in our shops, yet a mother feeding her child is seen as too sexualised! i think this really says something about facebook. they cant take down child pornography from a dead childs tribute site but they can remove a page used to empower women! Disgusting! i emailed facebook on info@facebook.com but i dont think they reply...who knows if they even read it!?

I think there's a really strong anti- BF undercurrent in the US. Another US site I used to go to was full of stories about strangers telling BFing mothers off, giving them dirty looks, "do you (dare to) BF in public" threads, "how do you BF in public" questions, etc, etc.

Quite ironic, given that Hollywood is largely responsible for creating the perception that breasts are sexual objects. Turn on MTV and you see a lot more boob than you do when a mother a BFs.

What are they going to do when everyone starts to think that mouths are sexual objects because of the oversexualisation of mouths in advertising (think lipstick advertisements, where lips are designed to look like aroused vaginas, and check out they way mouths are used on MTV), and forget that the natural purpose of mouths is for eating and facilitating communication? Start hiding in closets to eat? Ban all photos of faces? Start cupping our hands over our mouths when we speak? Lunacy!

I think if it's that bad, then the best way of responding is to stop using it.

    It is utterly ridiculous
You're totally right, marcellus. And I'm seriously considering it, despite what I know it will do to my ability to stay in touch with people, with living rurally in the UK - but I'm sure I can find another suitable, morally/ethically/socially accountable place on the interweb to be social.

This is what they have to say about themselves in the bit where it says to describe themselves and is apparently their "mission".

    This is what it says:

Giving people the power to share and make the world more open and connected.

What a load of rubbish. This can be found on the facebook wall.

I think an email off to A current Affair might be in order. They would love a story like this.
    :yeahthat: absolutely!!
