Hey ladies! A friend of mine is expecting her sixth baby, and she has been induced with four of her births already. Once she went into labour naturally, I think at 10 or 12 days post-dates (but because she was GBS positive, she had to go in for IV antibiotics. ). She was REALLY hoping for a homebirth with her previous baby, but ended up going 2 weeks over, and had to go in to be induced again. And the local hospital requires continuous monitoring for inductions, which means she's stuck in bed. Not much fun.
She has tried most of the "usual" natural induction methods, (although I don't think she's ever tried acupuncture yet).
I know that no one can make you go in to labour if you're not ready, but her body seems to be ready - baby is low, starting to dilate, lots of prelabour - she just can't seem to get over that edge and into the "real thing" without a nudge from the syntocin.
So what suggestions or help can you offer? This baby is not due until August, so she has lots of time to think and prepare and discuss plans with her midwife. She would really love to be able to experience a natural birth!
