Come on baby!!! im so over it!

This is my second pregnancy and with my first i had him early at 34 weeks so things went really quick..i just went straight into labour and was totally shocked! i know now i was having way too much sex with my partner and i was on my feet working all day and doing way too much and having hot baths(as it was winter)so thats definately wehat brought on the labour!

But now....For the past month ive been feeling like im ready to 'go'... ive been getting lots of pains and the head is down ready to go.. but he just wont come!!!!! and im at the point where im so uncomfortable i cant go for walks, have sex or anything!!

I cant believe ive made it so far! And he is just comfy in there i guess!

I never wanted to be one of these mums that goes 'over" the due date...and i so totally dont want to get induced as ive heard not good things about it.

Ive been getting so many cramping pains that feel like labour is starting, but then they ease off again!! why oh why cant they just progress and get under way?!!!!

Can anyone tell me what i can do to get things happening? or share with me what you did when you went over your due date to get it going?

Hey Stace, great name by the way

I am not quite at your point yet but I have been there with 3 of my boys.
Dont wanna burst your bubble but for me the only thing that worked was getting an induction date.
It scared me into labour as I was induced with my first son and never want to go there again.
I did the sex, hot baths, curries, long walks and even the castor oil (once and never again) raspberry leaf tea and bumpy car rides. None of it worked but once I had an induction date I spontaneously went into labour usually 2-3 days before it.
I will however be watching this thread for any new ideas as im sure I will be going over with this one too as much as I dont want too.

Good luck love I the days fly by and no bloody annoying people keep ringing you!

I went and had some serious accupunture, they hooked the needles up to an electric current thingy and she told me to get her to turn it up till it was just bearable..I went into labour that evening, worth a try i reckon.

    Hi Stacey!

No advice for you but thought I'd post to say HI! You weren't in our bellybuddies thread (1-15 Feb) which is a shame because there are only a couple of us left to pop and I'm sure I'll be the last! I'm due on the 15th.

Girls on the thread had success with castor oil (1 tried, went into labour the next day at 37wks) and walking up hills. Not a very big sample size!

I also feel sooo low and heavy and crampy, I feel like it's close but... who ever knows! I'm not too impatient yet but suspect that will impatience will start next week. I also can't bear the thought of DTD or big walks, especially in this heat!!

    Take care!

Ive had 2 nights in the past few days where i was totally convinced it was labour, i had regular contractions coming every 15-20mins last night, then went to bed, woke up a bit during the night.. then got up this morning to nothing more then the aches, cramping and back pain ive been getting the past few weeks!!

This is torture!! i just want things to get under way and get all the pain outta the way in a day and pop him out!!!

im going to try a couple of walks today and squating postions..but im nervous to use the caster oil...what side effects does that have and is it ok to use 'down there'?

the baby feels ready to come, im just not dilating!!!

    Hey Stacey!

Aaargh how frustrating for you, even getting regular contractions!!

How do you know about the dilation? Recent checkup or self check? I have an OB appt on Wed (40+2) and he said he'll do an internal - still deciding if I'll agree to that or nor.

Like you I'm also dead keen not to be induced, the OB is fine for me to go to 42 weeks and is also willing to let it go longer so if all is well I'll be waiting a while!! What is your plan of attack over the next week or so?

Good luck with your walks and squats today... you've reminded me that I should be bouncing on the fitball.

Regarding the Castor oil - PMSL that's funny, you don't use it down there , you drink it!!! Side effects are severe intestinal cramping and diarrhea for a number of hours. Hence it's not a hugely popular induction method!! Particularly as it's success rate is highly questionable.

Yip agree with the castor oil all it did was give me massive cramps and a severe case of the squirts. Not pleasant at all.
Have you been given an induction date yet??
I have a midwife appt today and I am going in with my knickers down asking for a vigorous stretch and sweep. I am over it too I just wanna meet my baby I dont wanna wait (possibly) another couple of weeks. NO WAY.

Good luck he cant be far away and surely he must get the message soon.

Thanx for the advice ALI & STACE!

definately not gonna try the castor oil, im quite sensitive to taking laxatives and things...a couple of prunes gives me extreme wind pain and diarrhea!

As for induction, i see my doctor tomorrow, and he said to me last week that he wont induce until at least a week and a half over the due date, and he'll wait and see how im feeling..as the baby isnt that big, he is about average size, so about 3 1/2 kg thank goodness!!!

But i wonder what he'll say after hearing ive had 2 nights of having contractions...

I have heard your baby can be ready to come, yet your cervix doesnt dilate..

Someone else mentioned acupuncture - I second that!!! I also did not want to go over and started having acupuncture early on to get my body ready. At 38wks the therapist started prepping me for delivery and at my 39wk appt she did the needles with electrodes attached - I went into spontaneous labour a few days later at 39+3.

    Think about it!!

I also would not recommend castor oil. It could cause your baby to pass mec whilst still inside you. You could try:-
    Sex
    Nipple stimulation
    Black cohosh
    Evening primrose oil
    Walking

Alan I'm curious about the Black Cohosh.

What does it do exactly? How long does it take to work?

My middie is hell bent against anything that doesn't include your body doing it's own thing - but I think you'll agree a gentle nudge doesn't hurt especially when OB's are waving their induction rod at you LOL

Black Cohosh is the root of a plant found in North America. It has a couple of uses including PMS, dysmenorrhoea, menopausal symptoms and to help bring on labour. Some people combine it with Blue Cohosh however I do not recommend this herb as it does have a few side effects that can be quite harmful. How long it takes to work would depend upon each individual women. The only side effect from Black Cohosh is a small chance of an updet tummy

update on me! what im trying and not!!

So i seen my doctor today, and he isnt too concerned he thinks any day now. And im holding the pregnancy well, and the baby isnt very big, so he said we'll wait until monday when he will give me a stretch and sweep.

As for the sex to induce labour.. Its funny that the 2 times ive had the contractions is after having sex that day.. so i do believe that sex can bring it on...but you have to be having lots and lots of it...

... and right now i really dont feel like it after putting up with my aching pelvis and a head jamming down into me!!!

As for the nipple stimulation, thats pleasurable and easy!! so im doing that!
And i love cranberry juice so i will get some tomorrow
walking- well thats a bit hard to do right now...but i'll waddle around as much as i can!! haha

Accupuncture scares the hell out of me!! so thats a no!
As for the black cohosh, it sounds bizarre, where do i get it from? im willing to try

    Hi Stacey

So glad that things are going well and it sounds like you've got an ideal attitude - happily wait it out, but while you're at it, try a few things that suit you

I had acupuncture today, it was fine!

You can get Black Cohosh from a health food shop or a chemist
