Oscar has been absolutely GLUED to me since Sunday....
The last couple of week's he was a bit funny but now I can't even close the door when i go to the toilet because he starts to squeak and carry on and he has to be beside me at all times.... he much prefers to be touching me in some way....
he normally does his own thing all day and just comes and see's what I am up to every now and again but now I am literally tripping over him.
he won't even eat his food unless I am there with him....
Do you think that bubs is going to come soon and he knows or am i reading too much into it???
My cat when I fell pregnant (and before I found out myself) would not leave me alone and would jump on my lap as soon as I sat down. He got over it eventually, but didn't have the end of pregnancy thing like you do.
Funny that becuase my cat much prefers my husband since I got pregnant (even though she has always ben very much 'my' cat if you know what I mean) and my dog has become more calm and gentle around me since.
Yes I think cats know something. My cats used to both sit with me while I was reallly big and would "hit" my tummy when DD kicked. One time I had a big kick and whichever cat it was sitting on my belly at the time got such a fright and jumped off. They were both very sookie as my due date approached.
I didn't have pets living with me at the time, but when things started with DD2, DD1 was quite clingy and sooky all day, so I figure if kids know instinctually then surely pets will.
I have a friend who went into labour and they had an old dog who sat by her side for about three hours and watched intently until her DH got home. About an hour later her father rang to ask when they dropped the dog off (at his house - about 20 minutes drive away) but she hadn't. This was the first and only time in his life that the dog ran away - he surely knew that something was going on - and once DH was home he had somewhere else to be
They definatley know. Our dog wouldn't come near me when I first got home from the hospital and mopped around for days.
The cat has always hated sitting on our laps but suddenly after I had Olive has decided she loves it now! She also kept on trying to get in the bassinette and cot so we keep her outside now as I don't want fur on all her stuff.
My sister has a friend who's cat scratched her baby's eyes and the baby is now blind in one eye because of it. That is jealousy to the extreme!
not sure about the imminent labour thing, but one of our fur babies has been super snuggly with me since BFP - he will curl up whenever he gets an opportunity! he use to sleep on a pillow on the back of the couch all the time, but now he hassles me to lay down so he can lay on my tum. he's super gentle stepping around so as not to hurt me, then lays on my tum and purrs like anything. not a chance he'd have done that pre-preg!
I read a story about a cat in a retirement home, who, everytime a resident was close to passing, would take up residence on the end of their bed until they died. So yes cats definitely do sense stuff I reckon.
I think my parents dog knows something is going on....she's a boxer who are notoriously jumpy and puppy like, and she's always been soooo annoying (like u have to lock her outside to stop her jumping, she tries to sit when u say 'sit' but she's just too excited), but recently she just sort of wiggles and springs up and down like a kangaroo pretty funny actually...and doesn't aim for my belly when she jumps up, she still jumps on everyone else though.
Could be cause im more cautious around her that she's picked up im not keen on the jumpiness, or a special dog sense, LOL
yep have to agree 100%. my cats knew i was pg before i did! LOL! they wouldnt leave me alone and kept sniffing and trying to groom me.
and my dog on the day that my waters broke wouldnt leave my side. it was annoying at the time, but the moment my waters broke i knew what she was on about. the other spooky thing was that seconds before they broke she looked at me as if to say: 'what the?', then it happened. she also followed me around the house until my friend came to help.
