Elephant gives birth to a flat calf... watch what she does

This is incredible. If you didn't trust birth before, you'll trust it after watching this. The only thing that disturbs me is that the calf is born onto concrete, not like in the wild... but none the less, check out how perfect and amazing mother nature and mother's intuition can be... and why we shouldn't mess with it. We might think that we'd be helpless in a hospital bed in hospital... but that's because we've given away trust and intuition (and midwives) which is why we have fear.

Wow! I wonder what humans would be like if left to do it on our own? In many cases thank god we have medical help.

Naaaawwww! Thats so beautiful! I love how she immediately changes from frantic to calm once the little calf starts breathing, checking it over, softy touching it.

Another thing about elephants, usually they have the rest of the herd (the females anyway) who act as midwives, and would help protect the mum, allow her to recover and help get the calf up quickly after the birth. She did well herself, but I couldn't help feel lonely for her.

Far out! It looked like she was sooo rough, but I guess she is programmed to know what to do if this ever happened. I tell you what though, I thought there was an awful lot of muck come out when you have a human baby but that takes the cake ROFL.
