How long did you stay after birth?

Not sure where to put this....

How long did you stay in hospital after birth?? How long are you REQUIRED to stay after a VB?
Also, since i'm going to have a VBAC, how long did you stay after a VBAC?

I don't want to be away for DD long and the closest maternity at 1 1/2 hours away.

    Thanks.

With Ianto, I left Monday night (not willingly) after having him Sunday morning.

With Amelia, I left on Saturday late morning/early afternoon after having her Thursday morning. I can't remember clearly, but I think they asked if I wanted to stay for one or two nights...

DD1 was 36+2 had to stay for 4 days. DD2 was 35+6 and we went home the next morning. If she was term we could have left that day, I think the minimum stay was 4 hours. Both DD was were normal vaginal deliveries have not had a VBAC but if there were no complications I dont see why they wouldnt manage you as any other vaginal birth. If you are going through a midwifery group practice you will get the follow up at home which helps if you have an early D/C

Im hoping to go home the smae day this time if bubs gets to term

As long as everything goes well you can leave around 4 hours later I stayed in a few days as I wanted breastfeeding established a bit better

I had an uncomplicated vaginal delivery at 3.30am and went home at lunchtime. I did have some chest pains, I believed it was because I'd spent 4 of the 6 hours of my labour leaning over a fitball, but the OB tried to push me into having a blood transfusion (three times!) because my haemoglobin was low, which I refused. The hospital was more than happy for me to leave (iron supps in hand) whenever I wanted, although they were surprised that I didn't want to stay

my best friend was told at the hospital where she had her babies that the minimum stay after an uncomplicated vaginal birth was 4 hours - not sure whether a VBAC would be included there and of course that was only the policy at that particular hospital

My first two VB I was home later that afternoon (2.30am and 5.30am births), my third VB was next morning (7.30am birth), the next two where 10 and 6 days because they were born at 36 and 35 weeks.
The early release births where followed up at home for a week with a domcilary midwife.

With DD I had a VB and stayed 5 days - this was my choice though because it wasn't busy and I wanted to attend some more bf classes because I wasn't confident about breastfeeding on my own at home yet.

I imagine it will be a lot quicker with this baby.

If all's well you can up and leave as soon as you want. And in public hospitals they're sometimes busy and will try and get you to leave within a few hours.
I was going to leave right away after DD, but then had PPH so stayed 2 nights. They wanted me to stay another, but it was christmas and they took pity on me. With DS I was private and ended up staying 6 nights, which was way too long in the end.

With DD2, I stayed 24 hours after the birth. Basically as soon as the midwives had done their thing, I was discharged.
I had second degree internal tearing, no other complications, if I hadn't have been given the epi and spinal I would have been able to leave about 12 hours sooner.
