Maybe we need to start a thread about our best and worst trips... lions and zebras eh Lulu? Was it like on the Discovery Channel? Gruesome? I once looked down my stairwell in to the depths of hell whilst under the influence of LSD... I went to church the next day... (I wasn't a church goer up to that point).

ETA: yep, I know what you mean Cai.... essentially a chemical is a chemical... the body doesn't know if it's illegal or not. I'm not a huge advocate for illegal substances... but then again legal ones can be just as bad for you.

lol I've never tried it cos it scares me. Only had pot, mushies and an E. Anything else gives me the shivers just thinking about it.

The only trippy thing I had was cars floating (mushies) and the wall moving like a wave (E and I felt so sick at that moment but it passed lol)...

I wouldn't use it because I didn't like it.
I was reading about cannabis and breastfeeding the other day and it said that THC can be detected in the babies urine 3 weeks after they were exposed to it in breastmilk. They are not capable of breaking it down like adults are. That can't be good in my opinion, and I would imagine that it is just as bad for an unborn baby. I am talking regular use, of course.
Opiates do cross the placenta and are addictive if taken regularly, but do not cause pathological changes. In other words you won't get cancer or other cellular damage from pethadine, morphine or even heroin. So technically they are safe for the baby as long as taken in controlled amounts.

I certainly am not condemning anyone who smokes, it seems like most of us on here have at some point. I do however feel that pot can be much more damaging than we ever give it credit for and its use should not be taken lightly.
Personally I would say eating is worse as you don't know quite how much you have taken for some time after having taken it so it is easy to take too much. Smoking is worse as far as cancer etc, but that isn't really an issue if you are just having it for labour. Just don't spin it if you don't want tobacco.

Almost all illegal drugs were originally intended for something positive for mankind, they have just been abused and given a bad name. Doing anything in small amounts near the end of a pregnancy is unlikely to cause any long term problems, so I guess it is up to the individual.

Ruf - I wasn't personally thinking of using it whilst in labour... more along the lines to induce - as you know, VBAC's can't have the synthetic drugs pumped into you because of high risk - which leads to the question also, if its been known to induce labour - what effect would the type of contractions started by pot do to a c-section scar, as opposed to syntocin?

I think its all quite interesting! And now I'm off to read that article.. lol

It would never do me any good in labour.. I get giggly and silly!!!!!

In labour I like to be in control, and feel everything. My contraction is my focal point, and I would hate to lose that....

But my sister, panicked, and screamed and cried for a LONG time, and I think a little "high" would of done her the world of good... she needs calming more relaxing time than I do...

So maybe a munch on some cookies, (or choc fudge brownies ) in early labour will have a calming, slower acting effect????
