Did your labours get shorter each time with each baby??
Everyone keeps telling me that the gods are going to grant me an even shorter labour than I had with DD2 (97mins). Although I love the idea of the 3rd labour been shorter, Im starting to think its setting me up for failure.
1st - 4hrs
2nd - 4hrs
3rd - 1.5hrs
4th - 2.5hrs, but with a day of pre-labour lead up to it.
I would add a note that the woman in the delivery suite next to me really did not deal with her labour well at all - because she had a quick labour qith her first, she was expecting the same for her second, and so was totally unprepared for the reality of a 12hr labour that she ended up having. If not for her expectations not being met, I think she would have coped a lot better, and not been so distraught if she hadn't had the expectation that things would be the same as last time.
My advice, try and build expectation for the oppersite of what you want, because then if things don't go the way you expect you will be pleasantly surprised.
Well technically I don't labour perse due to my not dilating until the last minute and not having exact regular interval contractions, but ignoring the 'text books':
DD1. No Prelabour. Hind Water Leak led to 4.5 hour hard, intense labour.
DD2. Small show. 12 hour labour (Including 8 hours of almost constant vomiting though that was a virus). All in all, (if it hadn't been for the vomiting) the labour was not as painful and intense as DD1's short one which felt like almost one giant contraction, so quickers not always better
Second - 22 hours (natural) (ended in emergency-section but he was about to crown so would have been about that long)
Third - 10 hours (induced)
Fourth - 35 hours (natural). However, hospital didnt believe I was in labour for the first 34 hours as I dilated strangely (ie, was at 2cm still but coudl stretch to 7cm etc which they dont count as 'active labour). According to the hospital I had a one hour labour which still annoys me til this day.
