Did your labours get shorter each time with each baby??
Everyone keeps telling me that the gods are going to grant me an even shorter labour than I had with DD2 (97mins). Although I love the idea of the 3rd labour been shorter, Im starting to think its setting me up for failure.
DS1 induced, from 1st contraction took about 16hours
DS2 induced, from 1st contraction took about 4 hours
DD some false starts inc the night before which was 6 hours of irr contractions, took 2.5 hours from 1st cont that day (and show)
1st - 4hrs
2nd - 4hrs
3rd - 1.5hrs
4th - 2.5hrs, but with a day of pre-labour lead up to it.
I would add a note that the woman in the delivery suite next to me really did not deal with her labour well at all - because she had a quick labour qith her first, she was expecting the same for her second, and so was totally unprepared for the reality of a 12hr labour that she ended up having. If not for her expectations not being met, I think she would have coped a lot better, and not been so distraught if she hadn't had the expectation that things would be the same as last time.
My advice, try and build expectation for the oppersite of what you want, because then if things don't go the way you expect you will be pleasantly surprised.
OP- Im really not sure about the idea of 40mins, would be nice to get it over with but it would have to be intense!
Misty- That womans experience is what made me ask! Everyone keeps telling me that I will be fast again, if not faster. The midwife who I wanted, kept on saying to us she would take us on, but highly doubted that she would make it in time!! She kept mentioning to DH that she would talk him through it all on the phone!! mg:
Delphmoon- I think you may miss this labour, it could be a bllink and you miss it event
