    Could this be it???

So I have passed 34 weeks now with the twins with my belly measuring at 45 weeks, my Ob told me last week to "be prepared".

This morning around 5.30am I woke up with the usual feeling I get when I'm about to get my period, a low down continual crampy feeling. I got up to go to the loo in case that was the reason but when I got back into bed the discomfort continued enough to not let me get back to sleep but not strong enough for me to be in pain.

I've been up and walking around and have been getting tightenings and some pain "down there" but still not enough to have me doubled over in agony. I haven't timed any of the contractions as yet as I thought I might wait to see if things get stronger over the day.

My DH knew this would happen as my Ob is on holidays this week....

As I never experienced labour with DD I don't know what to expect......

It could very well be the start of labour. My first labour started like that. Soft period like cramps that gradually got closer together in duration and intensity (it took well over 24hrs like that however) I never had a show and my waters didn't break until I was pushing. Does it feel like your uterus is tighter when your having the cramy feeling? I guess with 2 bubbas in there its tight all the time.

Its hard to say. My Pre labour was like this but the start of my labour was the same too... except it started with my waters breaking. GL

Could be some pre-labour babe. So as exciting as it is just try to rest as much as you can. You don't know how long it could last and you will have your arms full with twins so a last min nanna nap now would be a good idea. Yay for some babies!!!

I went to the hospital for CTG monitoring and they told me that the pain is because I have an irritable uterus, so even though I am getting constant regular pains nothing much was showing on the CTG.

I've been told to come home and take a panadol - like panadol will work - and wait and see what happens. So while I'm having mild contractions on the CTG I'm experiencing a lot of discomfort, so if the real thing hits I'm assuming I'll be in excrutiating pain.

Don't assume that KellyD. 1 panadol has been shown to give the same pain relief as a small dose of morphine. It really is amazing stuff. 2. your body can and will produce endorphines in response to your pain, which are 200 times stronger than morphine. You will probably find that your ability to cope well will be better if you can get some rest and arn't scared about the pain. The fear-tension-pain cycle is well documented. If you fear pain then you will be tense and then things will hurt more. If you can try to relax and have a nice bath or get a massage from someone you will probably find that you can come better. Both are great for early labour. If you get in the bath it will also support your belly more which cana help you feel more comfortable. I have never carried twins. I was really big but I am sure you arebigger and you have all of my sympathies. Be kind to yourself and try to get some support and relaxing done.

oooh Kelly exciting that you're getting some prelabour startings!! Don't stress about ur OB being away, sometimes preLabour can come and go for a while, he may still make it back from holidays before the boys come!
I totally agree with Bella to try not to worry about the pain. Yes, there will be pain, but just take it one contraction at a time when it happens, breathe slowly, have some pain management techniques ready (massage, heat packs etc), and remember - marathon runners go through pain too but they get passed it because there is a greater goal in mind...how much greater is giving birth - to TWO babies! WOOHOO! Your body is perfectly designed to give birth and you will be surprised at the amazing things that you can do!! *HUGS* We're cheering for you!!

when i started having contractions enough to stop me sleeping i took panadol and codeine and went to bed for another three hours, so it can definatley work! i hope things start soon for you, you can do it!! try to relax as much as you can and get your self mentally ready...good luck

So maybe things might be starting to happen now, I hope anyway as I am feeling so sick.....

Last night I was kept awake by 8 hours of mild contractions, they were coming pretty regular but never increased in intensity however this morning they died down and I have only been having a few random pains during the day. Although I have also been feeling sick to the stomach, been getting dizzy and have been getting tingling in my arms and legs so much so that I haven't been able to pick up DD as I have been worried I will drop her. Luckily DH has been home to take over the primary care of DD for me.

So we will see what happens tonight.. If the contractions want to come back well and good so long as they stay and get things moving, if not then they can stay away so I can get some sleep....

hugs hun, i know the feeling ive been feeling "not right" all long weekend wondering if this is it. With the dizziness ive been told its very normal at this stage of a multiple pregnancy and to take it easy.
Hope things either die down or get moving for you (and me aswell!!)

FINALLY THE END IS IN SIGHT....

I'm so happy that I now have a better end date to look towards after my Ob appt yesterday. I've been getting contractions on and off now since Sunday but nothing has "kicked off" so to speak, anyway after seeing my Ob yesterday he has told me that if nothing happens in the next week - which he thinks should happen - then he is willing to bring my c/s date forward by a week to the 11th May. So worst case scenario is that I have 12 days left to meet these boys, he has also told me that as we have now reached the "twin full term" timeframe than we will be going the c/s route as originally planned especially considering that twin b is still up to his old tricks and in the past week has moved from transverse to head down and is now breech again. How he is managing to do all these flips is beyond me as space is so limited but if this is an indication of what he will be like on the outside then I will have my hands full.
