    I'm scared.

I know, 6th baby & all. But I am scared.
I'm scared I wont know I'm in labour.
My last birth was painless, & if my water didn't break I would have had no idea. I would have passed it all off as BH's.

Things have changed now, I live 30 mins from the nearest hospital & I keep thinking, what will happen if I don't pick up on labour?
I had a PPH with my last & this hospital is only going to take me because I agreed to have a drip inserted to help prevent PPH again. It's only a small counrty hospital.

    I'm so nervous.

I can't often say this to people, but I know how you feel on this one.

Do you have an ob? What do they think? Do you have anyone close by who can support you in labour and call an ambulance if you go at home?

I guess just go in when you feel BH's again? Or call an ambulance? Better 3 false alarms then to have bub in the car - then again, as long as you have a phone to call an ambulance, hopefully you'd do just fine in the car.

I understand the fear, and I guess the best you can do is make as many plans for the 'just in case' as possible.

Storm, I can't really sympathise being this is my first bub and I have no idea what my labour is going to be like... but it must be stressing you out to think about all the "what if" scenarios.

It is stressing me out and I don't even have your past experiences.

Sorry probably not much help but I'm hoping everything works out for you...

Oh hun, I didn't realise I was in labour with Oskar either until the hossy said you better come in and he was born about 2 hours later. I have been feeling the same with this one and thinking OMG DH works an hour away from home ...what happens if it's a while before I realise again!!

BTW.. you look AWESOME in your ticker pic!!!

    Hi Storm
I don’t know if this is of any help but I have just finished working at a small hospital in NSW and plan to take a few weeks off work and do a bit of travelling. If you want to email or PM which town you are in I may be able to be there at the time of your birth. I could perhaps pop in and see you on a regular basis or if you phone me. I could then advise you when to go to the hospital or even take you there. And shouled you not make it to the hospital then at least you would have a midwife with you. There would be no charge for this.

God Alan, when are you moving to Scotland!?

Hun when i had a HB in the UK they put, amongst other things, syntometrine in my fridge in case i needed it for the 3rd stage. Is there any way you could have that prescribed and stuck in your fridge, so that IF (big if, you're really aware of the need to go in this time, so i'm sure you'll be on red alert for potential labour!) you give birth at home the paramedics can immediately give you the synto before they transport you? You could even have DH learn how to load and inject JIC?

Also, can you reach your own cervix when PG (i could, had to get into a weird position, but it was possible!)? Maybe you could get into the habit of checking how your cervix feels every day - even if you don't feel it much i'm sure you'll be able to tell from dilation when things are getting serious.

Gee Alan wat a wonderful offer thats truely lovely.
Hey sweet it doesnt matter how many babies we have had already everone is different and everyone is scarey at the same time. I think even if you feel abit off then you should take yourself off to the doctors or hospital just to be sure and to give you peace of mine the you and bub are ok.

    OMG Alan you are amazing!!!

Storm I have the same fear this time around. We live further out and DH now works out of the home about 1 hours away. I am worried that this bub will be born at home.

I would certainly look at having a midwife on hand hon

Oh my Alan, would you really do that for me? wow. You don't know how much this means. I will speak to the OB next week & see what he thinks, being 1/2hr away from the hossy is a tad scarey, & he is aware of it.
I'm booked in to have him at Temora.

Ladies, thank you all so much for your support.
I did feel like an idiot posting this, but after Angel's birth I am worried about it.I wouldn't mind having this one at home,( accidently he he) it's just the PPH that is freaking me out. besides the hossy can't offer me early discharge, so the thought of being locked up for 4 days "just in case" is putting a real downer on everything.

Oh wow Storm, you're going to Temora! You wont have all that far to travel at all Alan LOL. I had all four of mine there and it was just amazing - the midwives are all gorgeous and the care is second to none. Do you have Dr Jeri or Dr Kurtzer? One thing I do know with them is that if you do go in with a false alarm, that they will let you go home - I've done it ROFL. If you have Dr Jeri and you're at term, he'll suggest breaking your waters and get the show on the road, but from what I know of Dr Kurtzer, he'll let you go on your own. I know how scary it is to be that far from your hospital - I'm an hr away from there is it is concerning when you know you go quick and wont get there - my DH works an hour away and it could have been up to 2hrs for him to get home if he was down the pit when I made the call (he works at Cowal gold mine)

With the PPH, I had one after my third and they managed it brilliantly. There is a slightly higher risk of having one if you already have, but you may not have one at all. And if you do, well it's probably best that you are there for an extra day or two as you know how much it takes out of you

    Oh wow!!!!
I have Dr Jeri, he is lovely.Maybe this is why he keeps telling me I've just got to get to 37 weeks.
It is so nice to hear such a big positive on the hossy. I was so worried about it all!!!
    Your wonderful Trillian thank you!!!!!

    Hi Storm
I am not too far from you, I am in Narrandera at the moment. I need to go back to Vic at the end of this month but I am sure I can arrange to be in your area in March-April. (Hopefully there is some touristy things to see and do around there). Anyway let me know if you would like me to come up there. It would be better from my point if you could let me know within the next couple of weeks so that I don’t double book
