It's not for me, but each to their own. The concerns I would have about sending into someone else to do is; 1. Is your the only placenta they are doing at the time and if not, how do they ensure there is no mixing or cross contamination, or, can they guarantee that the placenta you receive is yours. 2. Do they keep them before processing them in a safe and hygienic manner. 3. Do they add anything, like herbs or fillers, when they make them.
My m/w takes it and prepares it immediately after the birth, in her own kitchen. She doesn't have more than one birth at a time, so no 1 is not an issue (can't be in two places at once!). There's not exactly a huge demand for it either.

For 2, it's taken straight from Mum's body into a freezer pack and into the freezer for preparation as soon as she's rested or it's daylight (obviously Mum will need it ASAP).

3. I've not asked about adding anything, but I'm guessing no. My m/w is a naturopath and if you wanted extra stuff you'd get a separate remedy I guess.
