    Possibly in labor??

    I'm so confused!
First I'm new here. I'm a SAHM of 2 boys, expecting a little girl.
My first son I was having BH from the beginning. I was around 35-36 weeks when I was checked. Was a 0. A week later I was 2. Then at 38 weeks I was 4. So induced. I had no pain.
With our second boy I was 0 at 36 and induced due to low fluid. Not many bh.
With this girl, I keep getting bh that hurt. I've told my dct about my sons, and all he says is if I get them for 2 hours and are 10 min apart go. Then my NP tells me bh won't dilate you yet I'm 1 and 40.
Saturday we went to the mall and felt great. Then 30 min after we left I got reg bh/contractions that where an hour apart and fizzled out after 3 hours. Today I've been very moody and emotional for no reason. My hips hurt, lower back hurts, feel like I can't sit still, and I'm exhausted.

Does anyone have any insight on this?? Maybe I'm close??

    Re: Possibly in labor??

The day before I had bub I got checked and told I wasn't going to have her anytime soon I was not dilated or anything but that afternoon I thought I was going into labour getting BH but never got closer than 10mins but then it fizzled out before bed dh decided to take the next day off because he thought bub would come and at lunchtime they started again but only BH not painful at all and not getting closer than 8 mins but at 5pm something changed and I started feeling like pacing back and forth and I kept needing to pee but still not painful and only 8mins apart we decided to go to hospital to get checked I ended up having bub 20 mins after I arrived at hospital at 6pm I only had maybe 6 painful contractions before I had her otherwise they only felt like BH and never got closer than 8 mins good thing I went into get checked

    Sounds like you're getting close. For 99% of people, you'll know when it's labour - it's all-consuming!

Good luck, hope you get to meet your little one soon xo

    Thanks.
I also have pooped 2 times. Normally I'm plugged up and go about 3 times a week. Now I'm getting sharp pains in my cervix and miserable to the point of tears.
My lower back hurts, body just aches, can't sit still, sleepy, pooping a lot, moody and very emotional...

Could be. Follow your instincts. If you are feeling like you need to go to hosp then go. Better to be safe.
Good luck hope this is it for you.

    I can hope!!
Once the boys head to bed I'll get in the shower.

Is there any certain things to look for?? All I'm told is reg contractions. Then when I ask about all these things I get a your crazy look and told it's normal..

    Re: Possibly in labor??

you might find that things kick off once your boys are in bed. or things can fizzle out, and might start again tomorrow night.

hang in there, baby won't be in there forever.

eta- from your original post, some places are now shifting to 6cm as the marker for when Labour is established. and many women progress at different paces, it is policy that dictates the 1cm an hour guide, not physiology.

    Re: Possibly in labor??

i have had 2 bubs, and both times things would start each night, and i would think 'is this it?', and then they would stop again and start the next night. Went on for at least a week, which didn't really help with resting for the real thing!

With #2, on the night he was born, things started and i started to wonder again if this was the real deal, but it wasn't til my DD was in bed and asleep that things really kicked off. My mind was worried about her, and i just needed to be able to focus on me for things to progress.

I also had a lovely massage the afternoon before he was born, and we had been to our fave restaurant that week, and i felt ready.

    How far pregnant are you?

    I'm 36 weeks.
Both boys were induced so I just don't know what it feels like to go into labor my self.

Just listen to your body it will tell you I just try to relax and not focus on it if it's the real thing eventually you will have a baby if not then at least not too much energy was wasted before the real thing

Agreed. You may still have weeks to go before you go into real labour - but you may have false labour for weeks before the real thing! Hang in there mama and try not to worry too much

    Re: Possibly in labor??

I think you would know when you are in labour. You could be getting close but hate to say it, you could be days or a week or more away. I had a very similar 'prelabour' with DD. I'd had (painless) BH since early on so that alone wasn't a sign of labour for me. My prelabour was nausea, increased BH, loose stools etc. Went on for a few weeks before labour started at 40 + 4.

Aside from killer hip pains, I'm ok today. Took a shower and had a spell where I had to lean on the wall and breath. My entire stomach hurt soooo bad. Then I got dizzy so got out. When I sat down I felt very sick.

    Re: Possibly in labor??

I had some serious pre labour for about 2 weeks before DS1 was born, and before that I had lots of braxton hicks. At night, I would get regular contractions that kept me awake, but then would fizzle out during the day. It's just your body getting ready for bub to come. It's likely, if you don't want to be induced again, that you just have to ride it out until established labour starts.

You will know when it's happening. You will probably lose some mucus plug or your waters might pop. The most obvious sign though is that your contractions are regular, and strong. I had been advised by my midwives that when your contrax are five minutes or less apart, and last for about a minute, and you have difficulty speaking or focusing through them, then it's time to go to hospital.

By the time I got to hospital with DS1, I was 9cm dialated and he was born an hour later.

But if you're unsure or worried, or get sick, or start to bleed, visit your care provider.

I would advise that you rest as much as you can, but also try to keep your mind busy and be lightly active. Do things you enjoy like reading, watching movies, going for light walks or a swim, having a massage etc...and try not to think too much about it, other wise it is all the more torturous! Good luck, and I hope it doesn't go on for too long. It can be hard to cope with when it lasts for a long time.

    Re: Possibly in labor??

Me too Mrs. Fabulouso, i was just reading my own thread from back in 2012 when I was wondering if my prelabour meant labour was imminent ... It wasn't! But I would go to bed at night from about 36 weeks and get lots of regular BH that were different from the usual, more intense and encompassing but I still somehow knew they weren't the start of labour. Plus I had shooting pains, a bit of nausea and various other things.
