Both my girls were posterior. DD1 labour was 9 hours, DD2 labour was 6 hours. I did the second labour drug free. Both times no tearing, and I pushed while on my back.

starrysky - thanks and i hope you get your vbac as well

Miss E - thats interesting as when i got to 6-7cm dilated i needed to push as well! Never got told why that was the case but it was the most excruitiating pain i have ever felt having to push and not being able to!
I had the exact same pushing urge at 6cm or so! It is so painful trying to ignore that urge! I remember with DS, I went from 3cm dilated to wanting to push in just over an hour, and I kept trying to ignore it to begin with as I assumed he was posterior and it was way too early to push! I couldn't believe that I had gone from 3cm to fully dilated so quickly after my experience with DD.

My last two were OP births and they were both vaginal. first OP birth was 4.5hrs, induced with syncto with minor shoulder dystocia and I had a 2nd deg tear. 2nd OP birth was 6hrs with shoulder dystocia and only a graze. He actually got into a position at the end where his head was looking over his right shoulder, suggesting that he was still OP, but his body had turned so that his back was along my left side, so he was sideways, hence the shoulder dystocia. Neither time did they use instruments.
