which method did you use? (Are there other methods besides the Mongan method?)
Hypnobabies - bought the home study course.

How did it work?
Listened to scripts, which taught self-hypnosis and detailed workbook

How was this taught?
Through CDs and workbooks, with back up support through a yahoo support group.

Do you think it made a difference to your experience of labour?
Definately. Even though DS came early and I hadn't finished the course and also forgot some of the basics (due to the unexpected things we encountered), I used the birthing scripts and calming cues. I had a drug free birth. (I also used a TENS machine)

Would you use the same method again?
100%. In fact, given what happened with us, I'll need it more the 2nd time to keep calm throughout the pregnancy and birth

Apparently, the benefit of Hypnobabies over some other hypnosis methods is being able to move around and talk etc whilst under hypnosis, rather than lying down. Lying down did not work for me at all. I also tried Calmbirth but quit after the first day, which was a waste of money. The scripts etc irritated me and I thought the hypnobabies ones were better. I downloaded the CDs to iTunes and listened through my ipod regularly. I miss them actually - they used to help me get to sleep.

The other benefit of hypnobabies is the workbook is very educational, including things about diet etc. They also have additional mp3's you can download from their site for specific purposes, like turning breech or posterior babies, keeping calm with a newborn, getting sleep during pregnancy, VBAC etc.

btw - they currently have a sale on until 5 Nov. code is NL-FALL
